Argos is now part of the Argos Retail Group, owned by GUS plc.

Launched in 1973, Argos has almost 500 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Approximately 98% of the UK> population live within 10 miles of an Argos store.

Argos had sales in the last financial year of £2.8 bn. Argos extra and Argos additions are increasing adding to their sales.

During the next three years Argos is planning to open 35 extra stores a year employing an additional 2,000 a year.

All remaining small stores are to be refurbished by March 2004.
