Argos UK is one of the United Kingdom's largest non-food retail chains, with sales over £2bn (Two billion).

They are the number one retailer for products such as toys and small electrical appliances, and a leading player in many other markets including DIY and gardening, consumer electronics and furniture.

Argos is now part of the Argos Retail Group - and that is owned by GUS plc.

Argos was launched in 1973. It has almost 500 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Approximately 98% of the UK population live within ten miles of an Argos store.

Argos had sales in the last financial year of close to £2.8 bn. Online sales are also increasing.

During the next 3 (three) years Argos is planning to open 35 (thirty five) new stores a year employing an additional 2,000 a year.
