Argos Extra is now part of the Argos Retail Group, owned by GUS plc.

Launched in 1973, Argos has almost 500 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Approx 98% of the UK> population live within 10 miles of an Argos store.

Argos had sales in the last financial year of around £2.8 bn. Argos extra and Argos additions are increasing adding to their sales.

During the next three years Argos is planning to open 35 extra stores a year employing an additional 2,000 a year.

All remaining small stores are to be refurbished by March 2004.
