ntl
- the UK's leading cable digital TV company which offers telecommunications
including digital TV, telephone and Internet services for both
home users and businesses.
ntl History
In 1991 the British Government enabled telecommunication providers
to directly compete with British Telecom to provide services to
UK business and home users. Two years later the origins of ntl
was formed (formerly known as CableTel). In under two years of
operation the company now known as ntl had outperformed all expectations
in the industry with the highest penetration rate of all firms
entering the UK industry and highest percentage of dual TV and
telephone customers. In 1996 CableTel became ntl and started a
joint venture with Virgin into dial up ISP services. Their network
continues to expand and they currently serve around three million
home customers - they also have the capacity to provide ntl
