UK Jessops Store History
Since 1935 UK Jessops (the family run company) have been
offering a broad range of photographic equipment and processing
services at low prices and expert advice. In the mid-1990's a
management buy out took over the firm when the family wanted to
retire from the industry ensuring the sound principles of highest
customer service standards, competitive prices and specialist
advice to help UK photographers needs. From the first Jessops
store opening in Leicester to the 250+ Jessops stores that
are spread across the UK today these are principles that are strongly
adhered to by all 2,500 members of Jessops staff, many of whom
are photographic enthusiasts themselves. 2004 financial figures
show an annual turnover of over £310 million - the majority
of which came from their Jessops camera UK range (£149.5
million) whilst accessories accounted for £82 million, camcorders
£29 million, photo developing/printing over £32 million
and other hardware £25 million. In their seventy years in
the business Jessops co.uk have received many awards and accolades
from customers and the industry to secure their position as the
top UK specialist photographic retailer.

Jessops UK have amassed a number of awards in the photographic
industry many of which are highly prestigious within the sector.
One of their first recognized awards was presented in 1984 when
Jessops received the Photo Retailer Of The Year Award voted by
readers of the Practical Photography magazine. In 1996 they again
won the same award at the annual award making ceremony and each
subsequent year - making it nine times in a row! 2001 was a good
year as they also received 'Outstanding Service Of The Year' at
the same event alongside runner-up for the Portaflash Series 2
in the Darkroom/Studio product category and for Developing and
Printing Services within the Processing awards. 2003 and 2004
also saw Jessops co UK also pick up the award for Best Processor.
