UK GreenFlag Company Information
Green Flag has been helping motorists in the UK with
roadside assistance since 1971. Initially the firm was called
National Breakdown but in 1994 changed their name to Green Flag.
That is not to say they forgot their heritage - National Breakdown
was known for their innovation in the sector - it was the 1st
recovery service to take motorists and vehicles back home with
their 'get-you-home' service. GreenFlag was also the first
company to start including motorway recovery. They were also the
first in the sector to enable customers to use freephone numbers
when facing a breakdown and were also the first to introduce a
fully computerised control room in order to locate stranded members.
Greenflag continues this proud heritage and has remained innovative
to customers needs. In 1999 they launched their European roadside
assistance scheme and in 2003 Greenflag breakdown cover
included real-time incident updates via SMS text messaging for
customers with mobile phones.
