The Amazon film section of the UK site was established in March 2000 approximately 18 months after first launching their Internet book store. Within this period Amazon had a meteoric rise and had already secured the top retail position online. Just over six months later Amazon became the first European e-commerce site to serve over two million individual customers and by Spring 2002 they had over five million customers on their site.
