mostly a good game - By: mikeeboy, 07 Oct 2008
i reallly liked this game, great with a rumble pad but it's not up there with the calll of duty 4's & half life 2's of this world.
it's great to blow stuff up but not alll stuff blows up which is a bit odd.the guys that you fight with in the story mode are reallly thick & dont help you at alll but i suppose that is the way they made it so you do the work yourself,it just detracts from the realism for me.
the story mode is good i would give it 7/10 as it's a bit basic & short.
online is great & feels like war would so i give that 9/10.
the graphics are good underneath that fuzzy filter!! why oh why did they put that grainy effect over the graphics,i wish there was an option to get rid of it,it's a crying shame it reallly is.
i recommend this game preowned but i wouldn't pay full price for it as it's good but not that good.

well i dont koow what to say being a fan of fps i was dissapointed it just was unrealistic & not much fun it was also very short its probably better to buy cod 4 or metle gear 4. i mean even haze beats this. IF U R COSIDERING BUYING THIS FOR A PRESENT DONT IT WILL NOT BE ENJOYED
CONQUEST MAKES IT WORTHWHILE - By: Elvis P, 03 Sep 2008
Initiallly I was a little dissapointed with Bad Company... after playing Battlefield over the years on the PC I was hoping for more of the same...but the Gold Rush mode just didn't do it for me. I thought it was way too streamlined to be of the Battlefield genre - too much intense, linear game play that didn't reallly give you much choice for strategy or squad play.

However, now the classic Conquest mode has landed on the scene my opinion has changed & my hours gaming has increased. This is what Battlefield has always been about - freedom to do what you want to do - not to be told whether you must attack or defend! And the whole destructive environment adds a whole new exciting dimension to the gameplay.

Squad play has improved but not massively - you don't get to choose your squad & there is no communication, be it voice or message comms. There's still big room for improvement but hopefully these points will be addressed in further updates/releases.

With dedicated no lag servers, thousands of players online & more maps on the way, the future is looking bright for Battlefield on the PS3!

Bang! and the map is gone! - By: S. James, 14 Aug 2008
Battlefield: Bad company is a first person shooter (ofcourse) with a sense of humour, the one-liners are certainly alot better than that of "Horatio Kane" of CSI:Miami fame.

The game is based around 4 soldiers in the B(ad) Compay, sent out into modern combat...

The single player is mediocre, my favourite line must be "I swear I saw a guy with an eye patch in that barrel/box" it made me laugh. You basicallly complete objectives over pretty huge maps, alllowing you to go anywhere, it is reminiscent of Mercenaries on PS2, but better.

The guns certainly do feel powerful even with the lack of rumble, & the characters are also rather loveable, even is they are US Soldiers.

The main selling point of this game HAS to be the "90%" destructable environments, I remember first playing & spraying a round of fire at a group of trees, they splintered abit & then nothing, I looked again to see them alll topple over into a woody heap.

The online mode of this game is both good & bad, ofcourse the destruction means you are NEVER safe, especiallly when you are camped up in a house, & hear a dreaded tank roll closer, & when that turret turns on you, your heart will skip a beat, thats for sure! The bad thing about Online, is that the game ships with ONE game mode. "Gold Rush", think Sabotage from CoD, but with Gold instead of Objectives, the objective is to find the enemies gold, & blow it up.

However a new update has seen a new mode released callled Conquest, however I am yet to play this.

Please ignore people comparing this to CoD, okay, the online isn't as good, but this is in a different league, it runs paralell(can NEVER spell that) to calll of duty, it does not compete against it. Simple as.

8/10
Older gamer review - By: Mr P, 12 Aug 2008
OK, I am 34, so probably older than a lot of people playing this game, though surely not the oldest!

First off, I do not have time to sit down & play a game for hours on end. I have maybe a couple of hours during the week & maybe a few hours at the weekend if I'm lucky.

On that basis, I have to say Bad Company is an ideal game. It is great fun, the individual missions are nicely broken up with automatic saves at key points, it has fast load times, the humour actuallly works, the graphics are very good (although some screen tearing does spoil it) & the sound, the sound is amazing.

I have a surround sound hifi separates 5.1 system. Bad Company sounds AWESOME. When I let off a grenade inside a building, BOOM. I had the doors shaking the last time I played!

I don't think my neighbours like me anymore. They have not complained. It might be something to do with the extremely loud gunfire.

As I already mentioned the missions are nicely broken up with saves. I find this very important given my limited playtime available. More than that however I have never found it frustrating to die & then restart a particular bit. I actuallly look forward to going back in & blowing stuff up. This contrasts with GTA4 where I get reallly sick & tired of having to start a 40 minute mission alll over again (and having to buy guns & flak jackets beforehand etc). Restarting a mission in GTA4 is a chore, restarting a mission in Bad Company is immediate & painless. Maybe not a fair comparison given the games are so different, but there it is.

I am very happy I made this impulse buy.
