NOT the first FF on a handheld - By: charles snickets, 22 Jun 2008
I've played this game & basicallly alll that happens is that you get told your some kind of legendary warriors & plonked(thats right, plonked) into a world to figure out what to do. Practicallly nadda to tell you what to do & absolutely MINIMUM storyline to get enveloped in. So if it's the great storylines of the latter games in the Final Fantasy series your interested in(like me), this game reallly isn't for you.

Im mainly writing this just to clarify this isn't the first Final Fantasy on a hand held (like stated in a previous review), & that FF 3,4,5, & 6 are available for the GameBoy SP/Advance & DS. I would recommend 4,5 & 6 if your thinking of investing in some retro FF (5 having a similar job based battle system to this one).
The First Of A Phenomenon - By: Mr. Robert E. Coady, 19 Jun 2008
Well if your a fan of the Final Fantasy games then I would say that you should recommend buying this as it's the very first Final Fantasy & so far the best remake. The reason why I brought this game was because I just wanted to know what the story was about to the very first game of Final Fantasy but when I started playing I was immediatly addicted.
Here's what I think about the game...

1)Gameplay=9/10. The gameplay may not be as long as some Final Fantsy games & there's not reallly any side quests on here. In fact there's none at alll but it still keeps you wanting to play more & increase your levels. I'm roughly about 10 hours into it & my characters are at level 25. Also the main characters (4 of them) don't have a main name. You just have to make up your own name for them.

2)Graphics=8/10. The graphics aren't exactly PSP graphics because it's a remake but they've made the characters a tiny bit cartoony which is perfect because it doesn't look rubbish in pretty much no way at alll.

3)Sounds=9/10. As with any Final Fantasy game it has amazing sounds especiallly during battle sequences & short video clips where the game is telling you about a certain part of the story. Every city has a different piece of music that goes to it & there alll great bits of music that are sure to get stuck in your head when your trying to get to sleep. I don't think there's a single bit of the game that doesn't have sounds unless there's a specific reason as to why it doesn't have sounds.

The first FF game I ever played was X-2 not knowing at the time that it was a sequel of X. I also thought that alll the FF games were linked to one story & that alll the characters were in every game. So I thought that Yuna, Rikku & Paine had been in every other FF. How wrong I was but yeah overalll I would say that this is a must have game if your a fan of FF.
Bye bye social life... - By: J. McNamara, 28 Mar 2008
The first game in the epic Final Fantasy series is now available on PSP & its great. The graphics have been updated since the NES days & looks positively nice on the little handheld.

The gameplay is reallly good. Its a good premise, with certain items needing to be found to unlock a new area, to get new stuff etc. It has a lot of play value in it & you may well find yourself stuck.

I have racked up almost 10 hours of play already on this & I'm only about half way through. If you like your games long & deep there is no better buy than this, especiallly at this price.
First FF Game on a Handheld... - By: Little Witch, 19 Feb 2008
Having started off my love affair with Final Fantasy 8 for the PS1 I was mildly suprised when FF1 loaded through on my PSP. It actuallly looks old but I suppose it's meant to. This is the first time I've played the original & I'm already completely addicted.
final fantasy - By: Ms. Deborah Ivany, 13 Feb 2008
this is a very good game.i have never played a final fantasy game on a handheld console but this stands out just as much as the other games.

the game has a good storieline including a dark entiti trying to take over the world, good gameplay & good desighn.but, this gme is especiallly let down by the poor use of graphics so,if you have played final fantasy games for the ps2 or wii then i sugest that you try this game & see what you think.
another downside to this game is the confusing map,as your character walks new peaces of ceanary appear & so do new monsters & dungeons as so it is very hard to keep track of were you are or were you need to be going.
