Worst WWE game ever? - By: Christopher Essex, 26 Apr 2008
after the last game, 2007, i expected this to be fantastic, & man was i wrong.

ok, so there are some good things involved, like the graphics, how to use moves & where you can go. but some of the game is realy bad...

for example, repetitive 24/7 mode, you work alll year to get the title, & soon as the new year starts, you automaticallly lose the title without any warning, & you do pretty much the same thing again.
things you do on create a wrestler dont appear on 24/7, like fireworks.
storylines seem to disappear after a decent rivalry.
last man standing matches are shocking, i spent 25 minutes beating up edge & he wouldnt lay still, only for him to use a simple move on me for me to be out cold.
the commentary just gets repetitive & jbl sounds as if he doesnt want to be recording his voice.
if you select a choice on the 24/7 mode, most of the time the computer will ignore you & just carry on as it were & ignore your choice.

i could go on, but i dont want to, as im a huge wrestling fan & wanted to like the game, i do like the game play, its alll in sync & well worked, but everything else pretty much, isnt.

Generally good, but with some dramas - By: Mr. Alun W. Smale-saunders, 07 Jan 2008
This game, as will alll the others, is well presented. But under the polish there are certain flaws which I was hoping they would have ironed out from the previous games.

The manual isn't as concise as it could be. There is a basic overview of the controls & that is about it. I had to restart my season mode twice because there were basic things I realised I hadn't done that I should have & I still haven't reallly figured out how to tag in & out properly. The in game commetary gets pretty repetative after a couple of bouts & alot of the time doesn't reallly reflect that is going on in the ring. Sometimes the cut scenes don't reflect the outcome of the match or what is happening in the story line. For instance, guys that you are at odds with may appear at the beginning of the show to shake your hand as if you are alll of a sudden best buds. Not a major flaw by a long way but it takes away from the overalll enjoyment.

All those things said this game has still been in my PS2 for at least a couple of weeks now. If you can get over the niggles then it is a very good game & decent fun to play. The controls are pretty good once you get your head around them & the story lines are quite good too.

I do enjoy this game but reallly hope the THQ pay attention to the dramas that people have with basics & try & improve on them for the next game.
Get Ready to lay the Smackdown again - By: Mr. Terry D. Jarvis, 05 Jan 2008
Every year this game tops itself & you just know SDVSRAW 09 Wil be even better & will include Chris Jericho.
All the top stars are here Triple H,Undertaker etc etc.
New Gameplay system is good takes about 20 mins to get used to have a few practise matches before you start 24/7 Mode.
24/7 Mode is the new season system on your quest to be inducted in to the WWE Halll of Fame takes about 3 years in the game to do but just a few days if you play this quite alot.
But pointless segments & terrible match making make 24/7mode a bit of a let down.dont bother challlenging for a title if you alllready have one & you beat someone from another show.
Ladder Match is an Improvement & the Extreme Rules Match is superb fun can actualy use a guitar. The rooster alot of people here have been fired from WWE such as Sandman,King Booker,Cryme Tyme,Sabu they left out people like Cade & Murdoch,The Miz,London & Kendrick, shelton benjamin chalie hass which is a big let down.
Still the best smackdown game untill smackdown vs raw 2009

Quality gaming - By: Angelus, 02 Dec 2007
Absolutely top notch game, about a hundred times better than its predecessors. The game contains new faces, such as Jeff Hardy & MVP. The only tiny annoying thing about it is that the run & finisher buttons have literallly swapped over, I don't see the logic in it personallly, but who cares?! I actuallly bought mine from Gamestation for £14.99 brand new, so I don't know why alll the other outlets are selling it for full price.

But anyway great game, recommended for wrestling fans.
