Button Mashin' Good - By: mister superstar, 15 Jun 2008
After a mixed batch of previous efforts, varying from near perfect, blindingly difficult & downright ugly, anybody would have been forgiven for thinking that this game would either fail big time or only appeal to the hardcore gamer. Well I would have to say that neither of those statements are true... entirely.
DMC4 is at heart an arcade inspired action/slash em up game with nods to other games such as Resident Evil & Ninja Gaiden. You take the role as Nero & Dante (the latter of which DMC fans will be accustomed) & your job is to run through castles, crypts & other fiendishly hallloween inspired locations. The only hitch is that situated in each of these beautifully crafted locales is a plethora of demon spawn & other unsightly creatures from the night. You name & it DMC has it, & will throw at you as hard as it possibly can. The joy of this game lies in the action, & being an action game I wouldnt expect anything less. The controls are responsive & the combos you can pull of feel fluid & make your eyes orgasm. The more you progress & the better you get the more points you will earn which in turn can buy you more moves & combinations to help you kick demon butt in an even more stylish manner.
This game has tons of replay value, with varying difficulty levels & achievements to obtain, but unfortunately this is also where the huge pitfalll of the game lies. With so many reasons to play over & over again, I would have expected Capcom to have implemented a little more effort in varying the levels a little more. Back tracking is alll well & good... but in the latter half of the game when you play as the original anti hero of the series you find yourself gunning through practicallly alll the same areas as you did with nero. As unfortunate as this may be, it does little to harm the overalll package. Beautiful visuals, smooth & fluid controls & positively oozing with style & pizzaz, this game should feed the hunger of any DMC fan & anybody else who wants a simple yet fun & inventive action game
unmissable - By: Mr. J. Francis, 27 May 2008
This game has a great combo system & is unmissable. The missions are great & the bosses are good.
Very Decent Game! - By: R. Matfen, 24 May 2008
I only got Devil May Cry 4 because of my fond memories of the first one(the only one i played), the news that the 1st director returned for it, & the extremely cheap price. I'm also a sucker for games with hoodies in. However, it took a long time to get to grips with the controls, which is when it can be fully enjoyed. I'm the kind of guy who has to get used to a game & mabye complete it once before i can truly enjoy it. It definitely delivers there.
Some great Boss Battles
Cool Characters (Dante's always been a winner)
Amazing Graphics, I first purchased it when i had a standard definition
set, where its still better than PS2 or Xbox, but when i got A HDTV 42" Plasma, it reallly impressess.
Good Character Development system.
Funny Voice Acting. You have to laugh at the cheese. Nero manages to escape sometimes, but in Capcom, Cheese can't be missed.
serious fun - By: neonflux, 20 May 2008

Dante's back to stick it to Satan - By: CB, 12 Apr 2008
This is truly my kind of game: An action heavy fantasy adventure thats alll about chopping up massive demons with a gigantic sword. It's a thick necked, big-fisted action game thats alll about kicking ass & lookin good.
First off, anyone who was afraid that series regular Dante was given the sack for this instalment need not worry, he's playable for almost half the game & even kills demons with a magic suitcase that transforms into a laser cannon. Thats Devil May Cry for you.
However, DMC4 is new guy Nero's story. Luckily Nero is awsome. He swings around a sword that can rev like a motorbike (for fiery attacks) & has a magic demon hand which can be used for powerful slam dunk moves. Nero is a worthy succesor to Dante (not to mention they look the same).
Without a doubt this is one of the best looking games on Xbox 360 to date & the graphical power is reallly utilized in varied enviroments like gothic castles, jungles & icy mountains.
The only complaint is that Dante's half of the game is basicly backtracking to the begining of the game where Nero began, & involves fighting the same bosses again.
It doesn't matter much. Coupled with a silky smooth fighting system & incredible action rammed cut scenes, Devil May Cry 4 has secured itself as possibly the best hack n' slash adventure to date & will probably remain so until God Of War 3 comes around.
