Playing this game made me feel like a cheat. - By: J. Gay, 17 Feb 2008
Action Replay took a long time to set up & didnt have clear instuctions.
I downloaded some codes for Animal Crossing Wild World & began to play. when i shrank down my morgage aaaaaaaand paid it of i suddenly realised what id done. I was a cheat & i hated myself. If you have ordered this product its never to late to cancel. If you are about to order stop & think do you want to be a cheat ? From now on i will play every game by its rule & never use action replay again. If you have used this product & dont feel bad about yourself the you are not a nice person.
P.s I will pay of my morgage but give the money to my friends who have never cheated.
Useful, though occasionally annoying beyond belief... - By: P. Kirkbright, 15 Aug 2007
Having read a couple of reviews, I was a touch hesitant about purchasing one of these, but went ahead & did it. I'm actuallly quite glad I did so, despite the hellish time I had getting the thing working.
Here's the rundown:
The manual is awful. Truly, unforgivably awful. It's partly incomprehensible, mainly as it gives menu names for functions when none are given on the system, & no pictures that link the what is actuallly happening. This makes it more than a little hard to follow.
The menus on the DS are graphical, & bear no relation to either the titles in the manual (no piccies in the manual showing "what's what" either) or their apparent function. It's like looking at wingdings font in shorthand. You do, on the other hand, get used to them.
The scroll function on the cheat list is slower than a sloth swimming in treacle.
The software is buggy, & maybe require you to spend upwards of two hours getting the thing to update your cheat list (as you are advised to do by the unforgivably awful manual).
However:
It works. Provided you have the patience to get it up & running in the first place, you'll be able to spend many happy hours cheating your way through your favourite games. Which is why I bought the thing in the first place.
There is a large selection of cheats online. Huge, in fact. Just ensure you delete the ones on the cartridge first, then upload fresh ones for games you want ONLY! Otherwise the first five minutes of use each time will be spent trawling through games you either don't own or have no interest in.
It's a little annoying to use, but hey, it does work (most of the time), & that's what matters. It's also probably the best known console cheating system out there, so you won't be running short on new cheats anytime soon. Bonus.
Very disappointing .... - By: Michael D. Brown, 26 Jun 2007
Installled it OK but a key icon is missing from the DS screen. The instruction booklet is completely unintelligible to anyone without a degree in computer science. So unable to add any new codes manuallly.
Does exactly what it says on the tin!! - what more can I say?! Great!! - By: Emma McFarland, 08 Jun 2007
After reading a few reviews across the Internet, I was a bit hesitant whether or not to buy this as some people in forums reported faulty software & difficult connectivity to your computer. However, I went ahead & ordered off Amazon (great price & came like the next day, brilliant!), & was pleasantly surprised when it arrived - the action replay is just like inserting a game into your DS & prompts you to insert a game, after which you have the options of choosing from a list of codes specificallly for that game. But what about new games out? Easy! A USB cable, supplied, connects to your computer & it is so so easy to update your codes list, using the supplied software!! Even on my slow modem connection it was pretty much instant!! Now I'm able to get past a bit I was stuck in in a game! So yeah I'd recommend this for anybody who, like me, gets frustrated when they get to a certain part in a game & cannot get past it, & desperately wants to get through the rest of the game! :)
Does not work when connecting to a PC to update - By: NoneTheLess, 16 May 2007
This is the second DS Action Replay I have purchased, the first being a joint GBA/DS Action Replay. Neither of them would properly connect to the PC. A total waste of money. What's even worse is the non-existent customer help from Datel. So now I am left with a blank Action Replay cartridge, having followed instructions from Datel, to reset the cartridge. Never buy anything for your DS from Datel, you may as well burn your money, at least you'd see something cool that way.
