EXCELLENT ONLINE - By: Cruize, 11 Jul 2008
When I first got this game I automaticallly hooked myself online with it. The game experience was incredible, I was driving around with two other people, trying to get fast enough to overtake them. There was also several online gaming lobbies scattered across the map, where you could host a race or participate in them. There are a range of cars, some slow, some fast, nearly every single one of their engines sound different. When you become a Master from gaming points you can pick anywhere on the road to teleport to, this is handy when your chasing after a particular online player or want to get to a specific location. When your playing offline it is much more boring, the police attempt to catch you but reallly they can't get fast enough, your riding around an empty island full of NPC cars. So if your gonna buy the game make sure you can get online because it reallly does change the way you play! Overalll this is an excellent online game & I have now bought it for the XBOX 360 because it was that good!
Wow, what a game!!! - By: CornyO, 18 May 2008
Now this is serious stuff. This game is absolutely brilliant with so many great cars to drive, from Italian Supercars (sadly no Ferraris though) to Classic Musclecars.

Now don't be put off by people stating the analogue stick is impossible to use; it just takes time to get used to & you'll soon become Stick King. You may get a rather sore left thumb though!

The handling is very realistic, the power, speed & acceleration is alll spot on. Every car is different. The only poor point is the lack of guidance of the manual, but go to various websites if you get stuck. In other ways it's fun to find out for yourselves what you need to do to unlock alll those great driving experiences. One of the best features is going on-line where you can race anyone in the world by either challlanging anyone direct (flash your lights twice) or go to a racing lobby & choose set races. The PSP does sometimes have trouble keeping up with the graphics but the 2000 is much better.

Now a serious point though: this game is so addictive I had only 4 or 5 hours sleep before getting up for work! I have spent around 35 hours play on this game & I still haven't quite finished it ( 2 more to go which seem impossible!) Warn your family before you start play or lock yourself in a room to play, & play & play. Fantastic. Have fun. Go get it.
No Match on PSP - By: J Tanning, 15 Apr 2008
Test Drive is the best car game out on PSP by a long way. The graphics are incredably realistic & the car engines perfectly match their partners in the real world. There are over 70 top brands of car to choose from & some of the best in each brand. Join clubs & race to become the president of each club which is harder than it sounds with only 7 people to beat but the AI units are clever & on the hardest levels it takes skill to beat them even if you have better car. One of the great points in the game though, is that there is a clear difference between the cars. I've noticed in some car games recently that speed is the only difference between the top sports car & the bottom of the range family drive. Test Drive have changed alll that & handling, braking & speed are alll factors that decide the final quality of a car; this is one game where the Saturn sky roadster can't finish anywherwe near the Ferrari! ONe of the best factorsd in the game is the freedom to drive around & explore a whole island. On most other games you can explore but you get stopped by roadbloacks or you simply cant drive down a road. The fact that the game is set on an island means that it is easier to accept that you cant go past the limits, the water is a clever barrier. The motor ways are also fun as it is easy to test the speed of your cars with the easy, straight roads & a quick way to get beween the many towns to explore. There are only two bad points to the game; the police & the completion of the game. The police are honestly pathetic. There are no roadblocks like on xbox & although it is satisfying at first when the police dissappear of the map it gets borig after a while. There is no thrill or adrenalind rush when the police are three miles behind you & losing ground alll the time. The completion of the game is also pathetic. You have alll the cars, alll the houses you have gold in every race & you are president of every club then what? Nothing happens & the only thing to do is try & beat your best time on alll the races.
Despite having a boring ending it is a gripping & fun game with great racing & great ideas like the housing & the clubs. The graphics & noises & movement of the cars are unbeatable & the island is a cunning setting. It is a fantastic car game & a classic that is simply the best ever made & will stick with that title for years to come!
Great free-roaming simulator - By: D. Jankowski, 04 Jan 2008
I kicked off my PSP career with Sega Rallly but soon found it to be very 2-dimensional & limiting. I am so pleased to have moved on to Test Drive Unlimited. I just love the free-roaming aspect of this game; pick a point on the island & have the GPS navigate you there, or just explore the roads yourself. Either way, you will find yourself tearing down vallleys, along freeways, through tunnels & along the beachfront in Honolulu. Occasionallly going off the side of the road gives a rather exciting tumble down a ravine (shame there is no lasting damage to the car).

This game may not offer the same technical experience as other motor racing games, but it certainly provides a great environment to drive freely in a stunning environment without being confined to a racetrack.
