Fragile - By: Ann, 02 Jul 2008
This is a fun handheld games console but is very fragile the games are quite expensive but the console it's self is a brilliant price.
Disappointing. - By: Mr. G. Moores, 08 Jun 2008
I got this handheld a while ago & eventuallly I couldn't use it. I went through 3 DS to fix the problem with it I had, & the problem was I had to press down reallly hard on the diagonals to make them respond. This wouldn't have been so bad, but it made my hand cramp up reallly badly. I persisted for a while with it thinking it may stop, but if anything it got worse.
When it comes to 2D games, then you won't have this problem, but for Mario 64 DS, & Metroid Hunters, it will just make your hand ache in agony.
I eventuallly sold my system with 3 games for £95. What was the point in keeping it when I couldn't use it?
Also the games are ridiculously over priced. They're like 30 quid a pop, & you can buy new console games for only a little more, or used console games for cheaper!
Another let down customer - By: A. Gibb, 30 Dec 2007
Like one of the other reviewers I saw on Dec 19th that this was in stock & available for next day delivery. I placed the order literallly within seconds. Needless to say I now know the item was not reallly in stock - I got emails telling me it would be delivered before Dec 24th & then just before Xmas a message saying the supplier had let Amazon down & it would be arriving sometime in February. Lesson learnt Amazon - with no route to complain about an order placed when there was stock (I checked after placing the order & it was still showing as available) customers are forced to leave product feedback.
I will continue to use Amazon for non-essential purchases. I trusted them to deliver & stopped my DS search believing I had bought an "in stock" item. Big mistake - made alll the more annoying by Amazon's refusal to accept messages FROM customers - it only sends them out or lets you read FAQs.
BEWARE NINTENDO DS USERS! - By: B. Alger-Poole, 29 Dec 2007
You cannot fault the Nintendo DS for its design & gaming experience, except for one flaw. It's durability.
I have had my Nintendo DS Lite for just over 12 months & hardly used it in that time, except to train my brain with Dr Kawashima. However, I am disappointed & annoyed that a crack has appeared in the hinge & a green dot on the touch screen, which is noticeable & distracting when playing games with dark images. It is literallly just out of warranty & I will have to pay around half the price of a new DS to repair it. Ironicallly, the DS has not been man-handled but stored carefully in a carry case out of harm's way. So as a word of caution, keep your proof of purchase so you can claim under the 12 month warranty should you need to. Otherwise, happy gaming!
Amazing - By: Philip Tomlinson, 27 Dec 2007
The Lite makes the original DS look like a beta model. It's smalller; sturdier; endlessly stylish; has much softer, better buttons; has far better placement of features, especiallly the microphone & headphone sockets; has a thicker stylus. It's no longer wrist-breakingly heavy, & is basicallly superior in every conceivable way. Performance is of course the same, though the battery is possibly a little longer lasting & charges faster. If you have the money for it, I would definitely recommend upgrading your old DS.
As for games, there is so much quality covering most genres, from New Super Mario Bros to Elite Beat Agents to Pheonix Wright & more. Online functionality is dire compared to the PSP, but quite workable if you don't mind the inconvenience of twelve-digit friend codes & a lower standard of wireless encryption. If these terms mean nothing to you, then it's safe to ignore these gripes. :)
