pretty annoying somethimes - By: neonflux, 22 May 2008
this game can get VERY annoying due to its stupid save system. you can wander around for ages looking for a save point, & just not find one. then you die.... otherwise, this game is awsome. i love hacking up the zombies in a sea of blood :) its just a shame that there is this one major flaw
frustrating but fun - By: A. J. Titterrell, 15 Mar 2008
dead rising is probably the most frustrating game i hav ever played. But also very fun, if u like killing 100s of zombies then this is the game for u. but for me the saving system for this game is just too frustrating to the point that u r screamming at the top of ur voice at the tv screen.also i must compliment the fact that u can use nearly evry possible weapon in the malll.

Dead Rising - The Honest Review - By: Jay, 06 Feb 2008
Hi everyone, today im going to review Dead Rising on the 360 for you alll as i usuallly do in alll my reviews i will go through the catagories STORY, GAMEPLAY , GRAPHICS, OVERALL, & MULTIPLAYER (if any). Lets get started.

Dead Rising is capcom's (Resident Evil n DMC series) new zombie horror fest game in which you play as a photojournalist named Frank West who must survive 3 days in a zombie infested shopping malll what you do within those 3 days is down to you.

STORY:
Dead Rising see's a smalll American town plauged by flesh eating zombies, Frank West (photojournalist) gets news of a strange incident & investigates to get the scoop, he arrives by chopper due to the roads being blocked off by the army but as mysterys unfold in the malll Frank finds himself in the middle of a huge conspiracy.

GAMPLAY:
Dead Rising is unique compared to Capcoms Resident Evil series they have focused more on a free roam aspect & the ability to use anything you can find as a weapon it's great in theory unfortunatly towards the opening of the game most areas of the malll are locked/shut so you have to do missions to open them which isnt bad reallly but when the cases involve waiting for hours on end just to do a smalll objective it can get very boring
( e.g. when you get a case it says "NEXT CASE WILL OCCUR AT 6:00AM & sometimes this just for a cut scene & then having to wait another few hours is frustrating).
Thankfully there is plenty of undead & psycho paths walking the malll to get rid of, survivors are present but the AI is poor e.g, if they see a swarm of zombies or a safe path they will run into the swarm of zombies unarmed & die. That aside the controls of the game are very easy to use & the camera works better than most Capcom games the controls are very easy to get use to.
If you have a standard definition TV you might be abit annoyed by the smalll blurry txt that comes up every time you get a calll but unfortunatly you have to read them( due to the fact that they didnt include voices in these phone callls), but if you dont want to you can just set a way point marker to the scoop & follow it.
I enjoyed Dead Rising but i think improvments could of been made but that doesnt mean its bad beacuse its a reallly good game & addictive if its your first time.
RPG fans will like this game too as you get rewarded new abilities for PP (picture points) or escorting survivors the maximum level is 50 & it will take a while to fully level up.

GRAPHICS:
Dead Rising is visuallly brilliant alll the characters are well renderd & animated they look almost like real people, the malll itself is incredibly detailed with real time effects such as lighting & water features etc. The zobies actuallly look reallly good in this game considering theres so many on screen at once sure they look the same but would you reallly wanna animate different zombies a million times over? lol by the same i dont mean your gonna see only one zombie i mean more like GTA games for example. they sue the same skins but just multiply them.
The cutscenes look brilliant in this game & character detail is fine.

OVERALL:
Dead Rising will appeal to people that either love zombie games or those who love dawn of the dead, unfortunatly if your looking for scares this isnt what your looking for as its just not got the horror factor that Resident Evil had.
But theplot is great & its still a great game & is worth buying with 6 endings to collect & loads of different playing styles this is bound to keep you busy for a few months i'll give dead rising a 7 out of 10 simply because i think some changes could have been done to make this feel more like a action horror game.

Thanks for reading hope this was helpful to you

Disappointing - By: KM, 10 Oct 2007
'Dead Rising' for the Xbox 360 is the game that every fan of the zombie genre, whether it be films, books or games, has been waiting for. Unfortunately it didn't live up-to it's fairly high expectations.

The main objective of the game is to remain alive inside the zombie-infested malll for at least three days, after which help will arrive. In-game time runs twelve times faster than real-time, meaning one day in-game is exactly two hours in real time. Therefore, the game is automaticallly ended after six hours of gameplay, when the time runs out. You control the main character, Frank West. As a photojournalist, Frank has an interest in uncovering the truth behind the zombie epidemic through unlocking a series of "case files" that build upon the previous ones & reveal the central plot as the game clock progresses. Unlocking case files is accomplished primarily by completing tasks & being in the right place at the right time in order to view a cutscene that explains more of the story. Frank also carries a camera & can earn "Prestige Points" from photographing different situations.

You also can choose to rescue other survivors within the malll & battle the many psychopaths that get in your way. With over 80 shops & endless amounts of weapons where you can use pretty much anything from tools to toys, you'd think this game would be great fun, but after a few hours the action does get very repetitive & tedious & ends up being generallly quite dull.

Basicallly this is "Dawn of the Dead: The Game". The graphics are brilliant (some of the best on the 360, especiallly in HD) & the scale of the malll & it's surroundings & the large amount of zombies on the screen at one time is extremely impressive, but due to the game's terrible save system & repetitive gameplay, this game reallly isn't as great as it should have been. It is definitely better to rent this game as it's lasting appeal wears off fairly quickly.
