Enter the Matrix - By: Dave Kraven, 26 Jun 2006
Set behind the scenes of The Matrix Reloaded, you can play as Niobe (played by Jada Pinkett-Smith) or Ghost (played by Anthony Wong) as they're given tasks to complete whilst Neo & the others are busy somewhere else. This is a clever premise; as it reveals some of the answers to the plot holes that were noticeable in the movies, giving us a good idea of what's happening in the background. The visuals (and "Bullet-Time" effects) look stunning, the action sequences are brilliant & the voice-over's professional which is what you'll expect from Hollywood's direction but it's heavily marred by uninspiring driving sections & the ill-concieved Logos ending level. Still, if you a die-hard Matrix fan then definitely have a go but for others, just rent it.
Don't bother! - By: H. Playford, 14 Jun 2004
This game was an enormous disappointment. First off, the characters are rubbish. Why would anyone want to play as two bit-part characters from the Matrix Reloaded? It's like being expected to play a Zelda game as Link's mum! Not very appealing, but it gets worse. The graphics are dull. They are detailed, yes, but everything is grey, black, grey-black, green, grey-green or green-black. I appreciate that the style of the original Matrix film was to have the Matrix world green tinged to give it a sense of unreality, but this game takes it too far. The controls are clunky, especiallly with the Gamecube controller- obviously not much thought was put into transferring the game from the PS2. If you can put up with the on-foot controls then I defy you not to give up with the car-chase parts of the game. The handling brings a new meaning to the word terrible!
I don't need to go on, right? Don't part with any money for this shameless & virtuallly worthless movie cash in.
Nothing to do with the movies but still great. - By: gokuarian, 23 May 2004
When you buy this game, don't expect to be doing anything that happens in the movie, but it still is a great game. It still has the slow-down time ability known as 'focus' which makes the game more fun & does more damage to the enemies. The guns are good as well, ranging from the pistol (which you can carry two of) to the assault rifle & even the PSG1. The only downside is that sometimes it is a bit boring as you are sometimes running around with very few enemies to fight.
It is not the one. - By: , 22 Feb 2004
It sounds great, a Matrix game! You can finallly pull of those bullet-dodging moves you see in the movies for yourself. But it is not at alll like this. The games driving sections are the worse i've ever seen & the controls aren't as good as they good be. Still, the gamecube & Xbox versions are much better than the PS2 version.
Chop Suey! Best action game in a long time! - By: Preston, 19 Nov 2003
I would give ENTER THE MATRIX 4.5, but online review writing frame-o-bob does not permit this.
This game is of a new breed. It has levels like any other, but it is probably the first film tie in game that is not actuallly based on the film itself, which gives the developers a wadstash of game creating freedom, but do these do these developeristerers succeed? Yep. Big time too. I was cheesed off when alll the '75%' review scores tumbled out of our overly-critical magazines. ETM is class, since it features bullet-time (tm-apparently)the wonderful effect that shot THE MATRIX & MAX PAYNE to where they are now. Mmmm...its so cool is bullet time if you, reader of my holy review, happen never to have seen this slo mo effect in action, you can see those shiny silver (or gold) bullets travelling with their nice nice nice trails.....gargle.
Right then. You can play as two of the minor characters in Reloaded & Revolutions, Niobe & Ghost, both are skilled martial artists, & have have the same heavily stylised Kung Fu tricks up their leathery, trenchcoated sleeves as such slapheads as Morpheus, or that hag with an odd hairstyle & a distinclty '90's motorcycle helmet, callled Trinity.
You have these Kung Fu moves at your disposal, to reallly dish out the pain on Agents but, even though you have more fighting nose bleedin' smacks in your sunshaded arsenal than any other game, these moves run out, & get repetetive. Humph. Also, the character models are superb-check out the snakeskin coat- but the levels are alll graphicallly dull, with the exeption of one shiny floored chateau, oop in ze mountains. Overalll a great game.
