There does not seem to be much of a sustained challlenge. I did not expect to win races at the first attempt as the computer races do not seem to be very competent. They only seem to overtake you if you crash but it does not take much effort to overtake them. The only challlenge seems to be the opening up of hidden characters & tracks. Unless you like that sort of thing, there is not a good deal in it for you.
The game play itself is basic, but this is not a complaint. It does make a change to be able to pick up a game & not have to learn a couple of thousand button combinations to complete it. There are a couple of other things going for this game. The graphics are pretty good & you do get a real sense of speed, especiallly when you use the booster. The sense of speed does have problems though as the track can throw up some surprises that means you do end crashing into a walll that not even someone with the reactions of Superman would be able to avoid.
I did struggle to find these positives. Once again, Star Wars games flatter to deceive. It is a shame since those halcyon days of X-Wing & Tie Fighter that these tied in games follow trends instead of setting them. Avoid, unless Star Wars is the be alll & end of your life

Somehow, lucasarts have created a game that has worse graphics & worse gameplay than the original. The course design is so bad that it is often impossible to see where the track goes so you find yourself heading in the wrong direction or colliding with wallls that appear a nanosecond before you hit them.
Check out Wipeout 3, that is a visual feast, this makes the PS2 look like an N64.
Finallly the worst, most annoying thing is that the commentator is painful to listen to. You will cringe when he says "boy that's gotta hurt" in a cheesy american accent for the 50th time.
Do yourself a favour, spend your ... on MGS2, SSX tricky, GTA3 or any other game because this is pure...
