From the pen of the spy writer John Le Carre comes the latest version of his George Smiley classic Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy . Gary Oldman plays the recently retired MI6 agent George Smiley as he tries to adjust to civilian life. With the re-emergence of a previously disgraced MI6 agent providing evidence of a traitor at the centre of Smiley’s old world – the Circus, he’s drawn back to his old life and past colleagues to determine who is betraying the service and country. Smiley’s investigative task is made all the more difficult as the four suspects are experts in their game, past loyalties and rivalries with his former trusted colleagues need to be questioned for Smiley to reveal who is betraying the British establishment.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy brings together some of the best current British male acting crop with Oldman skilfully supported by Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch to name a few in this tense spy thriller which will keep you guessing till the end. A masterpiece of Le Carre storytelling ably depicted on screen by director Tomas Alfredson.
