Disappointing - By: Stewart Selkirk, 10 Mar 2010
Jennifer Aniston is very good, as usual, always providing quality acting whether the material is mediocre or not. This is. Owen Wilson on the other hand, absolutely stinks in this film, he is disengaged & unengaging. Not just his character, but the laboured, self-conscious lack of presence in acting terms is frankly irritating. There is no chemistry between Wilson & Aniston. This film is clearly being marketed as a "chick-flick" (how I hate that term) & as a "romcom" (equallly detested). It doesn't deliver on either of these "genres". It is actuallly a tad depressing & light on comedy value. Dog lovers will no doubt be able to relate to the crass emotionalism with which the film is imbued, everyone else will just want to tear their hair out. The proposterous notion that Marley is in any way a keeper, is ridiculous. The Aniston-Wilson union retain the awful, destructive pooch even when it may actuallly be to the detriment of their young family.GET RID OF THE DOG!!!!!
Wonderful - By: Tommy Stenton, 09 Mar 2010
To start it made me cry, i love this film sooo much now :) Great acting & beautiful story line.
Pretty uneventful film -maybe aimed at dog owners only? - By: haunted, 06 Mar 2010
Possibly the most uneventful film I've ever seen!

A couple get married & get a puppy who quickly grows into a large unruly adult labrador. He causes a few mildly embarressing moments.
The man gets a good job in a newspaper writing about a column mostly about the dog's adventures. They start a family. All the kids love the dog. He gets a better job & they move into a bigger house. They conclude that having a dog is a good thing.

That's about it. Maybe a dog owner would have enjoyed it more.
Wilson & Aniston do the best they can with pretty limited material.

Good video - By: A. Bevan, 03 Mar 2010

I enjoyed this video & it helped me go back to read the book. I would particularly recommend this to anyone, as I was, in the position of having a very old & much loved four legged companion & a very tough decision to make.
Tough watching & reading at times, but ultimately helpful.
