dull dull dull - By: Sandra Hoather, 03 Mar 2010
Am utterly baffled beyond belief as to how & why this so callled comedy got such fantastic reviews. Has it only been watched & reviewed by people who have children? Perhaps they can relate to the chaos of family life but i just found it very boring. I managed to suffer my way through a few episodes but can honestly say not once did any of the "humor" manage to evoke even a flicker of a smile. There are no refreshingly new concepts in outnumbered & certainly none of the clever wit that is to be found in true British works of genius viewing like black books & black adder. So dreary that it can not even be classed as middle of the road entertainment.
Family comedy at its best - By: TheGerbilTamer, 18 Jan 2010
What can I reallly add to the blaze of fantastic reviews of this series but to underline exactly how true to life & excellent it is? If you're a parent trying desperately to juggle work & home life & even if you're not, I guarantee you'll find this series amusing. The portrayal of Mum (Sue) & Dad (Pete) by Claire Skinner & Hugh Dennis respectively are excellent but the true genius eminates from the child actors, Tyger Drew Honey (an understated portrayal of eldest son Jake), Daniel Roche (excellent as the Billy Liaresque Ben) & the star of the show, Ramona Marquez as the comedy-queen-in-waiting Karen.

The stand out episodes of this first series are the trip to the urban farm (always painful) & the ruined dinner party. It's an excellent show & if you haven't seen it & are a fan of comedy, I strongly suggest that you rent or buy this DVD.
just brilliant - By: David Boden, 28 Dec 2009
If you didn't watch this series on BBC1 when it was first broadcast then you just must see this DVD. This London suburban semi-chaotic family creation is so plausible you almost can't believe it's acting. The little girl ( Karen ) is scrumptious whilst being a brilliant & determined cross-examiner of adult hypocrisies. The other two boys are very good too & the parents are the most perfect foils. Enjoyable, funny, entertaining & just brilliant.
A must buy!! - By: , 18 Dec 2009
This is a great show even for kids. My family an I love it & have gone on to buy the second dvd. The actors are great at acting & make you laugh for a long time. A must see.
Brilliant Series - By: B. Petagna, 09 Dec 2009
I love this series & will watch it over & over again. I've asked for Series Two for Christmas (Santa, are you listening?). All the characters are brilliant & so believable, & it was reallly interesting to watch the interviews with the cast & producers & to find out how they managed to get the children to perform so perfectly.
Can't wait to watch series two again.
