Stunning offbeat hitman movie - By: Chris Wood, 25 Aug 2008
This is a real gem - a cool, Eastern influenced assassin movie. It has a great performance from Forest Whitaker & some stunning action, as well as a heart & soul that place it well above the above hitman movie. This is a brilliant film, strongly recommended.
A MISSED HIT! - By: Lou Almighty, 06 Jul 2008
This brilliantly-made Arthouse drama by directing legend Jim Jarmusch surely deserves the highest credit. Why so many people haven't even heard about it I never will understand, as it was one of the best films of its year. The story focuses on an assassin (Forest Whitaker in unquestionable one of his best performances) who lives strictly by the Hagakure - the way of the samurai.
Overlooked and neglected - By: Mr. D. C. Hayes, 01 Jul 2008
I saw this film about 6 years ago & I am still surprised how many people haven't even heard of it. Whitaker is an ultra cool asassin who strictly adheres to the honour code of the samurai. The film is shot in a dream like manner & the sound track, by Wu-Tang member The Rza, perfectly captures the culture clash of eastern values meets western inner-city street life. Definitely one to own.
