First rate Brit flick - By: Chris Wood, 18 Jul 2008
This is a very entertaining story behind some dodgy types deciding that a bank holds cash that should be theirs. When they manage to pull it off - with plenty of good tension - they find compromising material of a dynamite nature & their lives get even more complex.

This is a great thriller & a superb night in. Good stuff.
Gripping, Thrilling - Entertaining!!! - By: Pennan Heaven, 18 Jul 2008
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie - I found it hugely entertaining. The fact that this is based upon a true story made it alll the more entertaining & the humour was well placed to provide a nice balance as opposed to similar movies that end up like watching a documentary. I have to admit the tension was so great at certain points in the film, I almost had to left the room I was so engrossed & caught up in the tension!

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good thriller - & in particular an excellent performance from Jason Satham!
We're the Sweeney...You're nicked! - By: jingles_sunderland, 17 Jul 2008
Actuallly this film does not involve the Sweeney Metropolitan Police Flying Squad) but it does have Jason Statham doing a reallly good impersonation of Grant Mitchell from Eastenders.

Personallly I think this film is a complementary piece of work to a film of a few years ago, Scandal, as both movies give a very convincing portrayal of Britain in the 1960's & '70's. with the sleazy concoction of political power, the Establishment, the secret services & the filtering down through to the lowest criminal classes.

Purists amy argue that some of the scenes in the film are anarchronistic but one must accept that given the tremendous changes which have transformed London in the last fifty years, some artistic licence is inevitable.

The film reminds me in a sense of the Long Good Friday, a superb movie with Bob Hoskins, Helen Mirren & a short appearance from a young Piers Brosnan in that the vital essence of Britain's capital. Also every aspect of this film is excellent, plot, screenplay, cinematography, acting, credibility everything. The language is a tad worse than in your average movie but it certainly seems appropriate.

I have no hestitation in recommending this film to a discerning adult audience.
exciting..... but lazy and perverted - By: Ms. S. Harding, 16 Jul 2008
This film is an interesting, funny, clever movie which had many moments of truly entertaining drama. However, I felt this could only be said for a certain amount of the film, as the majority of it seemed to rely on naked women, & nothing else. I understand at times in the movie certain parts were relevant to emphasise the obsession of sex in the 70's & the corruption of trusted people (like the scenes in the brothel). But I felt it followed too many other sleazy & lazy fims at the moment, by filling up the film with breasts, as for me it made the film blend in with the alll to common lazy idea that naked women will excite everyone & fill up minutes. This ruined it for me, as it didn't need to rely on nudity & keep focusing on it as it had an incredible plot & charisma to it, & I would have enjoyed it far more if at had spent less time on sex & more on the other interesting aspects of the 70's & the story.
One for your collection! - By: xxx, 05 Jul 2008
The story has been outlined here several times so I go straight on to my opinion...
I watched this film last night & must say I haven't been that entertained like this in a long time. There are tense moments, it's funny, in one part a little gruesome (whatever your imagination is) & you will not know how it ends until it ends. The actors are great, the dialogue is intelligent & brilliantly British. The film left nothing to wish for - I had sweaty hands.

Definitely 5 stars from me & I just bought the DVD for my picky dad's birthday. I know he'll love it, too.
