Sensational Disney Fantasy on An Enchanted Blu-ray - By: M. C. Crawley, 09 Jun 2008
Giselle is a princess dreaming of her happy ever after as she sings her way to true love in an enchanted forest in animated style(literallly)....but Narissa the evil queen has other ideas when she banishes Giselle to the real world of Manhattan in modern day New York to be lost amidst a completely different world.....The scene is set then for a modern day twist for a perfect real life fairytale in a cross between Snow White & Pretty Woman....what's your dream? Amy Adams plays an innocent Princess Giselle who is reluctantly helped at first by a divorce lawyer in the form of Patrick Dempsey (Greys Anatomy) & followed into the real world by an equallly dashing Prince Edward played by James Marsden & an evil queen Narissa with Susan Sarandon's help....What transpires is a totallly sensational chemistry based Disney with lots of humour song & dance with a touch of panto theme(watch out for the song & dance sequence in New York's Central Park as it is magic)....Will Giselle find her Prince Charming?....Simplicity is the key to a very entertaining colourful Disney with the characters alll combining to make it one of the top Disneys to be released in recent years..... as to the Blu-ray I have never seen such a fantastic colourful spectacle as Giselles song "How will I know" in Central Park...the picture quality is absolutely pin sharp with vivid bold colours & vibrant contrast...This can also be said of the Grand Balll Dance sequence at the end of the film...Indeed there is a whole host of demo hd material in this film such as the entrance of Narissa & Prince Charming via the man-hole in the middle of Times square New York....The sound too is top notch with explosive entrances, lively musical scores by Alan Menken, an absolutely must have blu-ray with very enjoyable family entertainment, comes Highly recommended...
Great film for everyone - By: G. Austin, 14 May 2008
When it started, I was squirming in my seat, the opening sequence was so sweet & sickly. However, I soon got into it & appreciated the way Disney was laughing at itself.
The visuals are great, with the Chipmunk being the star, but the whole thing kept us (me, the wife & kids 10 & 12) interested alll the way through. Story was good, but the jokes were fantastic.
Only 4 stars? Well, there are better films around, but you're missing out if you don't watch this one.
Excellent Film - But Disney have messed up the blu-ray - By: Jimmy The Mute, 12 Apr 2008
Tihs is an amazing movie but Disney have made a frustrating disc.
There are about ten different commercials at the beginning of the disc, thankfully you can skip them with the next button but you have to do each one individuallly, so you're sitting pushing next for about five minutes before you get to the main menu (you can't just press the menu button). very annoying. if i've paid £20 on a disc i deserve to be alllowed to watch it.
more annoying is that disney have made the disc bypass one of the recent playstation 3 features. the playstation 3 remembers the playback position of dvds & blurays after you stop watching & resumes from that point, even if you take out the disc & put in another one. this even works on old dvds. however disney's enchanted blu-ray always starts from the beginning, meaning you get the adverts again.
thank you to the makers of this movie & to disney for making a movie that openly mocks its own legacy in an entertaining way. but disney's over-zealous advertising department needs to think about the consumer a bit more.
