What the you is what you get - aliens/horror & sci-fi. Most discs have the original cinema version as well as an extended directors cut (up to 30 mins more than original film). The directors cut ending the Aliens 4 is one to see as its completely different in tone from the original (and much better).
Alien/Predator Total Destruction - By: S. Vickers, 02 Mar 2010 All the Alien films are accomplished.
The original is the genre! They don't get better than that, & plenty of people have tried.
Aliens is the James Cameron movie typified. Technicallly proficient, plenty of bangs, good fx, but like a chinese meal leaves you wanting a bit more.
Alien 3 was the weakest. . . But it is still an original film & worthy, just didn't have the budget that the other Alien movies were made with.
Alien 4. Just a bit of hokum in space. Fun with mercs, scientists & an alien hybrid - throwing Winona Ryder into the mix & you are guarenteed some madness.
No matter what anyone says, the AVP films are fun. It isn't real! Don't take them seriously - they are just an AVP smackdown - like John Cena Vs The Undertaker. Enjoy them for the simplicity of the storyline & revel in the cheesy nature of the films. They are fun. Maternity wards & aliens. . . 'nuff said reallly!
Great originals - newer ones, not so much - By: KM, 06 Jan 2010 In this collection there are 8 films, alll in the ALIEN & PREDATOR series.
ALIEN [5 out of 5 stars] - One of the most scary sci-fi horrors of alll time. Great storyline & fantastic characters.
ALIENS [5 out of 5 stars] - Possibly the coolest, most action-packed & tough films from the 80's, if not ever! Good humor & suspense too.
ALIEN 3 [3 out of 5 stars] - More down-beat & less action than the previous two films. Not a bad idea but is generallly quite depressing.
ALIEN RESSURECTION [2 out of 5 stars] - A joke reallly. Plot-less, bad acting & a real waste of time.
PREDATOR [5 out of 5 stars] - One of Arnie's best. Like ALIENS, this is one of the best action films of the 80's.
PREDATOR 2 [3 out of 5] - Ultra-violent & more gritty than the first film. Not bad but not great.
ALIEN VS PREDATOR [3 out of 5] - Not as bad as everyone makes out but nowhere near as good as it could have been.
AVP2: REQUIEM [1 out 5] - A real embarrassment to the whole series. I wouldn't even bother getting the disc out of the case!
Overalll this is great value for money if you've not got any of them already & would like the whole collection, the box features 8 individual slimline cases, so it does look pretty smart. Otherwise I'd go for the cheaper option & just buy ALIEN, ALIENS & PREDATOR as these are the only ones reallly worth watching.
Good value for all 8 - By: Ekij, 10 Aug 2009 Very few people (if any) like alll eight of these films. Even the big fans argue that some of them are weak or poor (or dreadful) but most people enjoy enough of them to make this a worthwhile deal.
Things I learnt from watching this collection:
Alien: Spacesuit helmets are designed to keep the air that's in them in, they're not good at keeping things that are out; out.
Aliens: Sometimes the best defensive position is to keep moving.
Alien3: When you're told not to wander about the complex without an escort "for your own protection", sometimes it's actuallly for your own protection.
Alien4: Basketballl can be fun to watch.
Predator: If it bleeds, you can kill it.
Predator2: Lots of commuters carry guns but none of them can shoot straight.
AvP: The enemy of my enemy may consider me to be as tacticallly significant as a cockroach (If I get in the way, I'll get stepped on).
AvP2: Discharging high-yield energy weapons while inside a spaceship is a BAD IDEA.
Alien/Peditor collection - By: G. J. Samuels, 22 Jun 2009 Alien/Predator - Total Destruction Collection [DVD] [1979].i've seen some of the alein films, but it was good to see them again.a good collection to keep, good story lines & visual effects. well worth the money.
