So bad it's good! - By: Caterina Fortuna, 07 Oct 2008
I can only reiterate the comments already made about this dreadful product - however, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed its unremmitting awfulness. True, it seems to have been made from a set of still images found in someone's attic & collaged together in someone else's garage, but there is something rather compelling about the clipped diction in best Queen's english & the brio with which the odd italian word is delivered. The sheer nerve of the producers in using & reusing the same out-of-focus images over & over is rather impressive - even now I feel a nostalgia for the fuzzy nuns photographed in St. Mark's square.
Within minutes of the beginning we were incredulous ; by the end some of us were crying with hilarity. lots here to discuss & marvel at!
Waste of Money - By: Pat, 19 Sep 2008
THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST TRAVELOGUE EVER HEARD/SEEN. VERY POOR QUALITY PICTURES AND APPALLING DIALOGUE. "HEAD GIRL" INSTRUCTING THE PEASANTS. DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY ON THIS.
I agree with all the above - absolutely dreadful DVD - By: Chirpy, 01 Sep 2008
I said it alll in the title reallly. But now I have started:

I bought this as an extra present for my father's 92nd birthday & we have never been more disppointed with a DVD in our lives.

It is much worse than my first ever attempt at making my own DVDs - but this has no actual video - unbelievable!! - & I would have scrapped it straight away if I had made it.

It couldn't end soon enough for me either & I envied my Dad who managed to go to sleep through most of it. He included a week in Venice on his honeymoon trip in 1949 & we still love going to Venice together.

The DVD's photos are so blurred - litle, if any, colour - & you can hardly recognise even places you know very well. From the commentary & fashions I thought it was made in the 50s not 1992 - I think it said that at the end - but that was a bit vague too. Or perhaps I was actuallly dropping off by then.

What a let down!

Poor quality - boring boring boring!!! - By: J. O'Meara, 15 Aug 2008
I bought this DVD hoping to gain a further insite into this wonderful city. I wish I had not bothered. It is made up of poor quality - often blurred still photographs with a condesending commentry that lacks the charm, information & beauty of Francesco da Mosto's series. Don't be fooled by the fact it has just been released on DVD. It was made in the early 1990s. J O'Meara
