High quality ass kickery - By: Chris Wood, 18 Jul 2008
The best of the Resident Evil movies, this film has plenty of top action & a good amount of salivating zombies getting creatively hacked up. Milla Jovovitch is lethal & gorgeous by turns, & knows more about decimating the undead than any other screen star of recent memory. Good stuff, strongly recommended.
wasnt expecting much after apocalpyse....... - By: Jasper, 01 Jun 2008
and i got what i expected, the story vaguely picks up onto the end of the apocalpse, & the opening of this film, uses scenes from the first film to very good effect, & i have to say was one of the best bits of the whole film. After that though, sadly it goes down hill, the story kinda bolted onto the end of the existing films, by a 2 mins cgi globe & alice talking about how the t-virus has wiped almost everyone out. It joins alice on the road going to help some survivors, & lets just say thier game backfires.

The film also focuses on some of the people you will know from the second film, (although not jill valentine surprisngly) who have to hit the road & are searching for survivors as well as a safe haven, this is led by claire redfield, (yet another resident evil character used completely out of context) & the film goes on, with the survivors getting attacked by alll means beasties (and crows) but the film just kind of plods along in its hopelessly predictable & zombie killing ways.

UNTILL....

things get alll too wierd & a bit tooo matrix'y with alice. Most of the film progresses on like this & only seems to return when a) they get to las vegas, although even that bit is slightly ruined by the intervention of umbrella, but it still makes for fun action packed viewing, & the final series of events when alice goes on the hunt in an underground research lab. This scence is brilliant & is reallly what alll the resident evil film series shouldve been like, & the evil beasty in this film is brilliant, & brings back the scary unbeatable monster type events from the games, unfortunately this AGAIN is ruined by more matrixyness, this is meant to be resident evil not a showcase of mind trickery, & the end well i personallly didnt like it, but it does tie in several themes that have linked the films together.

Saying that it still has a bit of a cliff hanger ending with the survivors, & i dont know, but it does sound a bit similar to what happens in resident evil code veronica x, but i may be wrong!

The cgi is good, the ending is not my cup of tea, it has a couple of gems in it but sadly this has neither the storyline or the tense horror sequences to rise it up from being 'just another zombie flick'
good addition to the 'Evil' series!! - By: L. Mcwilliams, 22 Apr 2008
I genuinely liked the first of the Resident Evil films - Mila Jojavich does a good action heroine - but after being slightly disappointed by the second, I have left this one for a while before watching it.
Although it doesn't have the strong story of the first, It can hold its own as a stand alone effort. The action is pretty much constant, & there are plenty of well choreographed fight scenes.
I think this is a worthy addition to the series, much improved on the second, mainly because the supporting cast are more likeable, but also because less time has been spent trying to over complicate the plot with strange genetic mutations for Alice to deal with!
I would recommend this to fans of R E ,don't be put off by the second, or the extremely short cinema release time this one got - it has definately been sold short!!

Worth watching, especiallly for some spectacular Zombie killing!!!
Best of the bunch - By: Barry Fowles, 21 Apr 2008
After the first two films which where frankly dissappointing 2 stars at best, at last the triology springs to life. Doing most of the action sequences in the daylight was a gamble which pays off, this is a great stand alone zombie flick which does the video games justice. Roll on number 4.
Not exactly survival horror, but not bad..... - By: Dino Amore', 13 Apr 2008
There are two ways to approach this film. As a stand on its own action film, its not bad. Theres a lot of action, if no real character development, & it shifts along at a fair pace. Disappointing finale, though.
As a Resident Evil fan (which I am), this has little in common with that source material. There are a few nods to the games (demon dogs, killer crows, Umbrella bases, Jill Valentine's red dress etc)but the central plot follows Alice, a character created for the films.
If you want 90 minutes of escapism, you could do worse.....
