Good genes make for exceptionally talented children - By: Stephen B. Peddie, 07 Jul 2008
If Unforgiven & the Bourne Supremacy had a child, 3:10 would be it.

You will have missed some truly exceptional film making & rollicking entertainment if you let this one pull out without you!
The Ending - Spoiler - By: Mr. AJ McIntosh, 03 Jul 2008
I think the ending to this film was excellent & believable in the circumstances.

There was a certain level of redemption throughout the film, very much triggered by the strong morals that Dan possessed.
A lack of self esteem & poverty were what most people saw, & Dan was terrified of that... Ben Wade was the only man who saw Dan for what he actuallly was - True to his own belief, uncontradictory & with an untouchable strength of character. Probably attributes that he sees himself as possessing, albeit from the complete opposite end of the moralistic spectrum. It was clear that Ben Wade respected Dan.

One thing that no-one has commented on is the fact that Charlie Prince knows Ben Wade better than most. He trusts him as a leader of a gang that is solely about making money (Ben Wade gestures/refers to affluence & the power of money on a few occassions throughout). This does not necessarily mean that he trusts him as a man... & this is evident in the final shoot-out between them. Charlie Prince draws first, or at least is ready for the gun fight before it happens. Their relationship was based on business & business related reliability, not nights in the bar & sh*ts & giggles. Charlie Prince probably heard Ben screaming for Dan's life as he was gunned down, & it's fair to assume that this will have been the first time that he has heard this. The difference between Ben Wade & Charlie is that Ben Wade would have made the association immediately & killed himself in an instant. It took Charlie enough time to supply Ben Wade with a gun before he figured out what was going on.

There may have been points throughout the film where things were a little far-fetched, but the relationships & actions between the four main players (Ben, Dan, Charlie, & Dan's son) remained true & explainable throughout.

I expected better - By: A.G., 27 Jun 2008
I am a big fan of the more authentic westerns,ie Geronimo,Broken Trail,Open Range etc,I was looking forward to seeing a decent western with two brilliant actors in the lead roles. What a huge disappointment. If you can tolerate gunshots sounding like the blanks they are, a man who is gutshot, has to be transported by stretcher, loses lots of blood, operated on as soon as a veterinary doctor sees him & in the next scene is riding on the escort to take the baddie to justice & along with other `spaghetti western` bits you might get some enjoyment out of it but for me it takes the realms of western mythology a bit to far. If this is the best this director can do I won`t be watching any more of his films. A total waste of Russell Crowes & Christian Bales talents.
leaves no cliche unturned! - By: Nick Hargreaves, 25 Jun 2008
You would hope a modern Western would have more believable characters & plot than some of the corny movies from the 50s, 60s etc. Well, in this case you would be disappointed. I imagine getting shot in the stomach is agony & takes months to recover from. But in this movie, alll you need is a 'Doc' with some big pliers to extract the bullet & within hours you can be riding a horse, running, fighting etc etc. Of course there is no anaethetic - & the patient is so tough he declines to be held down during the 'operation'. If this kind of macho nonsense is your idea of a good movie, you will enjoy this film. Because it is packed with alll sorts of similar incidents.
The so-callled 'relationship' between the two lead characters is also rubbish. It is based on them both repeatedly doing the most stupid corny things that are simply impossible to go along with. EG Crowe evading his gang to help Bale get him to the train, after he has spent the whole movie trying to escape. Gunfights in which the heroes are unscathed by hails of bullets. etc etc etc.
A movie that leaves no cliche unturned!
You want to see a Western with interesting character development? Try Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid - knocks spots off this
Was expecting more................ - By: Mr. Douglas P. Taylor, 22 Jun 2008
An ok film - why is there so much hype about these average movies? I felt Russell Crowe was miscast & certainly not his best performance. The best performance in the film for me was the character "Charlie", evil little bastard! But then that was spoilt towards the end of the film when he shouted "listen up" to the townsfolk - he might just as well as shouted "listen up yo dudes"!! I'm sure this sort of langauge could not have been used in the 19th century, could it ?? A better script would have improved things a whole lot. Having said alll this the movie is not a turkey, it's good entertainment.
