Smak destiny in the face - By: David Bradley, 17 Sep 2008
This film is pure genius. For some reason, someone gave it 1 star saying it was the worst film. I have no idea where this persons sense of humour was that day...... This is no Anchorman or Superbad?? This film is on par with alll the great comedys of recent years. I only know one person who did not like this film & they do not like Anchorman either. Out of the people I know, I am the only person who owns this & everyone is always asking to borrow it & they have it for a lengthy amount of time. I think that speaks volumes.

I was very surprised at how brilliant this film was as I had never heard of it before seeing it on Amazon. I can't believe I missed it at the cinema. From the start, this hits you in the face with laugh out loud, belly busting jokes. The format is very simple, as are alll comedys like this. Rod needs to raise money for his stepdads operation to save his life. He raises money by doing stunts in order to pay for the ultimate stunt & raise even more money - the only trouble is, he's a terrible stunt man.

Even after watching this film millions of times, it still never fails to make me laugh my head off. There are not many films like that - Anchorman, Austin Powers, 40 Year Old Virgin to name a few that do. This truly is a great comedy & for the money, you will not be disappointed.
Hot Rod - Cool Beans! - By: Mr. C. J. Balmer, 16 Apr 2008
I sat down to watch this late one night expecting an average slapstick comedy. It exceeded my expectations, I laughed so much it hurt!

Andy Samberg's approach to his character Rod Kimble, a self proclaimed stunt man who decides to jump 15 busses in order to fund his Step fathers life saving heart surgery, reminded me a lot of Adam Sandlers performances in early roles, especiallly Happy Gilmore & Billy Madison. This is no bad thing, he is most probably the next Adam Sandler in waiting!

I felt that Ian McShane was inspired casting for the role of the grumpy ass kicking Stepfather that needs lifesaving surgery. With a great soundtrack (consisting mainly of a Europe greatest hits package, once again not a bad thing!), brutal stunts & comedy moments, oh & not forgetting the smoking hot Isla Fisher in a supporting role, I would highly recommend this film. So get the beers in & get hold of a copy, you will not be disappointed!
Worst film of recent years - By: JJ, 14 Apr 2008
This film was terrible. Almost like a film school project that got a budget. Humour was non-existent & poorly telegraphed. I think I laughed once. Acting, direction, script. All terrible. SuperBad, Knocked-Up, American Pie alll make this look truly, truly appallling
Great film - By: Gordon Saunders, 11 Feb 2008
Hadn't heard too much about this film, & rented it solely on the hilarity of the trailer.
Was not disappointed as this turned out to be a great film, one of the best i've seen in a while.
The main character is very similar to Will Ferrell, both in his acting & his comedy deliverance. The main plot is slightly bland, but there is plenty of laughs to keep you watching.
Will be purchasing this soon!
Laughing till my stomach cramped! - By: F. J. Moore, 27 Jan 2008
I watched this movie after viewing 'SuperBad' the previous night & the two do not compare.

I laughed so hard watching 'Hot Rod' that my stomach was in cramps - the humour is subtle, being in the facial expressions & one liners & the romantic element makes it almost falll into the rom com category while still remaining a goofy action movie!

Would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who likes slapstick humour with the added extras of wit & stupid dancing!

This movie is ideal for both sexes & especiallly relevant to those who suffer a bad relationship with their step dad!

Absolutely hilarious - rent or buy it now!
