30 Rock, ROCKS!! - By: Mr. L. W. Dalgleish, 23 Jun 2008
Having designed a feature on this show ages ago for the newspaper I work for, I didnt reallly give this show a second look. I wasn't overly interested & the fact it had Alec Baldwin in it seemed to put me off. BIG MISTAKE!!! My editor loaned me the Season 1 boxset & I could not stop watching!!! This show is HILARIOUS. I am addicted to it. I used to watch loads of TV but due to work I don't get much time so I tend to miss out on the odd good show.. This being one of them. The cast is fantastic & the writing is sharp, witty, laugh out loud. One of the best actors in the show to me is Rachel Dratch. She has no fixed character. She plays several different people throughout the show, alll of which are weird and/or crazy. The best one she played was the Russian Prostitute but you have to watch it to see.. This is not a show to be missed. It is crazy how this show isn't on at a better time on a better channel. Thats the problem over here though. If it's not a soap or reality program it doesn't get a good time slot
Pure Genius - By: Ms. A. C. Bettinson, 25 May 2008
This show is just fantastic. The best comedy I have seen since Green Wing (although nothing like Green Wing so if that wasn't your thing don't let thast put you off!)
It is awesome. Pure genius. Fantastic characters, brilliant humour, great scripts - I can't praise it enough. In my mind there are no flaws. The characters are brilliant cliches taken to their comedy extremes, it references other shows & films in an intentionallly crude & obvuious way, which is just the icing on the cake, & refuses to take itself seriously at every turn.
Current, satirical, ironic, topical, laugh out loud comedy at its finest.
U.S. Comedy at its very best - By: Mrs. F. L. Marney, 01 May 2008
So glad I watched 30 Rock when it was on TV, but most people seem to have missed it & if you did you've missed out on one of the funniest U.S. imports since Frasier. Set in New York in NBC building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza (hence the odd title) it follows the exploits of Liz Lemon an every women TV Exec working on a Saturday Night Live style comedy show callled the Girlie Show. Into Liz's life comes Alex Baldwin as her new boss & he gives I think the funniest comedy performance since the immortal last line of Some Like It Hot. Who knew Alex Baldwin was such a comedy God, his characterisation here is brilliant. The supporting cast are alll perfect, alll delivering there own uniquely funny performances, there's not a duff line or performance in the whole series. These are alll fresh, funny, unique characters. If you're a woman & you work you cannot fail to relate to Liz's trials, in the same way we alll connected with Sex & The City, you'll get the same connection with Liz, but she's the real you, not the glamorised Carrie Bradshaw version.
30 Rock is funny, clever, fresh, relatable & must see TV, so if you missed it treat yourself to the DVD & laugh yourself silly.
Seriously underrated, terrific comedy - By: T. Houston, 25 Apr 2008
Channel surfing late one night, we came across 30Rock on TV & watched three-quarters of one episode. We couldn't believe this wasn't on prime-time TV on a major channel & apart from that one episode I've never seen it shown on TV since.
Although totallly different to 'The Office' it's along the same lines. The humour is sometimes laugh out loud, but often it's cringingly funny. There is no one 'star' - although my family alll have their own favourites - but rather alll the cast play roles which contribute to the overalll program.
This set is excellent value: each episode is around 25 minutes & there are 21 episodes. Great comedy which deserves to have as much recognition as the likes of Frasier & Friends.
Where are the extras? - By: Caliban10, 22 Mar 2008
Why does the UK version not contain the extras that are in the US version? Why on earth would you remove them? Aren't they supposed to be a selling point? No sale, I'll get the good version, thank you very much.
