This blu ray version is definate a night in to watch. ITs a gripping action film that has a slight twist to it. Story line shows of a normal working rich guy whos tragic son was killed. Then the action begins.
Dont want to mention much as I probably give the story away but plenty of action. The story depicts a normal life changing & depicting a life of gangs.
A good thumbs up from me.

I reallly liked death sentence it has a message but also is a very good revenge movie. It is more Death wish than say Nico or any Van damme or seagal revenge movie. You genuinely believe Kevin Bacons performance as a distraught father. The film treads a fine line between credible revenge movie & standard action film, but the violence while strong & brutal it is never gratuitous.

The title of this review pretty much sums up my feelings towards this film. The first 30-45 minutes were reallly quite good & the potential was there for the second half of the film to be the same but as soon as Kevin Bacon's character went looking for revenge & in the process donned some war paint & went alll Rambo like, it went downhill faster than an avalanche!
Overalll, a disappointing effort that could & should have been so much better.
Disappointing - By: KM, 13 Jun 2008 'Death Sentence' is the latest film from the director of Saw, James Wan & is about a man named Nick Hume who on the way home from his son's hockey game, stops at a petrol station for fuel & his son is then killed in a street gang initiation test. The police find the actual killer fairly quickly but the jail sentence is so minimal, Nick decides to let him go & take the law into his own hands in revenge for his son. Nick catches up with the killer & stabs & kills him which in effect puts his whole family in danger as the rest of the gang get wind of what he has done & want revenge of their own.
I am a big fan of the Saw films & also reallly liked Wan's other movie, Dead Silence, so I was reallly looking forward to this, but I reallly wish I'd of saved my time & money with this one as it wasn't very good at alll. The storyline sounded reallly good but after watching this I felt it was just quite dull & was just way too unrealistic to enjoy There were a couple of exciting scenes such as the car park one & the final scene but overalll it just felt like it was dragging for a majority of the film & also was very predictable in what was going to happen next.
The Blu Ray transfer also wasn't that great either & I can't imagine that it is that much better than an upscaled DVD version, so if you are thinking of getting this film I'd consider saving a few £s & get this on standard DVD instead.
Overalll this is a very disappointing movie that could have been so much better & just felt like one big mess reallly. If you're after a decent revenge thriller I highly recommend watching The Brave One instead as it is a lot better than this.
action packed thriller - By: A. Williams, 07 Jun 2008 i bought this film not 100 percent sure what to expect. i can honestly say that i found this film to be superb from beginning to end. kevin bacon's character was believable. he also played the role extremely well. with some films the story can be far fetched & hard to believe but with death sentence you can honestly see how after losing his family bacon's character can go from an ordinary family man to a revenge killer. a truely entertaining film highly recommend.
