A Lazy Afternoon Film - By: Ms. C. J. Collins, 11 Jul 2008
This film is definitely a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. The plot, despite covering many decades, moves at a slow pace that might not be to everyone's taste but after watching it you'll find yourself surprised that so much was fitted into the film.
The quality of the acting is fantastic, especiallly from Jessica Tandy & her style meshes very well with Morgan Freeman's & they manage to make the characters engaging. There are also some great one-liners.
However, I still feel that I can only give it a 4/5, mainly because there is not much depth to the secondary characters beyond Hoke, Miss Daisy & her son. They falll very flat & are given so little screen-time that they almost might well not be there.
Something to be aware of, however, is that although the film is given a U rating there is a very strong racial slur used at one occasion.
A truly wonderful film from 2 of the greatest actors of all-time - By: Dazman, 19 Jun 2008
Screen legends Morgan Freeman & the late Jessica Tandy light up the screen in my favourite on screen pairing of alll-time.
This is a wonderful story of an elderly lady named Miss Daisy (Jessica Tandy) & her chauffeur (Morgan Freeman), who's been hired by her son (Dan Aykroyd) to assist his mother in getting her around after she has a driving accident.
At first Miss Daisy resents the presence of her new chauffeur, but slowly but surely she learns to tolerate him, which in turn turns into mutual respect & into a great friendship.
Both Jessica Tandy & Morgan Freeman play their parts to perfection & their chemistry is unlike I've ever witnessed on screen, Jessica Tandy won an Oscar for her performance, along with the film itself.
This is a very gentle film, with lots of gentle humour, you could say that not alot goes on, but the film is alll about the 2 legends of acting & their brilliant performances, it's a beautiful film.
