I Just Don't Know.... - By: Benny O'Laugherty, 25 Jun 2008
.....I mean its weird, an internationallly recognised & loved comedian like Brand..I expected more to be honest. It starts off with great promise he got a fantatsic reception when he came on as well as some original crowd interraction made it look like it was going to be a good show. What followed was a sequence of long stories that didn't reallly keep my attention. Even the audience, who had given him such a rousing reception at the beginning seemed a little bored with long awkward silences until he hit with a weak enough pay off. The observations are good enough but lack a real conviction & punchlines. Having said alll that Brand has great Charisma & gets some good laughs from his scene building & doing voices which is entertaining.
Overalll not fantastic but not bad enough to throw in the bin... just meh
Don't get it. - By: Mr. B. J. Roberts, 26 Jan 2008
I have now taken the decision to never listen to peoples advice again. I was assured that Russel Brand was 'hilarious.' Well I don't get it. I was bored half of the time & actuallly found myself wanting to press the fast forward button. The man doesn't reallly tell "jokes" or even "amusing anecdotes." By the end I was left wondering how this man had a career as a 'comedian'. Apparenlty, its enough that he's loud & irritating. Do yourself a favour, watch some real classic stand up comedy like Bill Hicks or Richard Pryor.
Are you joking? - By: Daft, 16 Jan 2008
If Peter & Jordan can have a chat show, then Russell can be a comedian. If alll you want is to see people from the gossip columns speaking, then knock yourself out. The 90 minute set consists of three jokes/humerous observations that we`ve alll shared with the lads down the pub, while skiving off from something or other. Stretch them out to 30 minutes per subject, & apparently you have an hilarious show. If you drink in wine bars instead of going to uni for your masters degree in fasion & fine arts, then this is for you!
good stand up - By: sean paul mccann, 14 Jan 2008
Russell brand is a man that i find annoying is his overly saturated media work, whether it be the tabloids, radio or tv the man is everywhere, granted he came from a background of drugs & debauchery to work his way to a man that has just got a role in the new st trinians film, this stand up dvd has however educated my brain into thinking that brand is a funny man, certainly for a very adult audience but he knows how to entertain.
The guy has a view on the world that is childish but works,he has an innocence about him that defies the content of his show & again thats a charm that he has mastered, topics are varied & he likes to interject himself with the audience who warm to him like a pot of tea,a good show indeed.
Handsome comedian and expert funnyman! - By: SkinnyFitJEAN, 12 Jan 2008
This dvd is the best. Russell Brand captivates you right from the start, but if you are easily offended it isn't for you. He tells of his life as an early actor, his Dad & how unemployment is. One of the best parts is about "Dogs with jobs".
This dvd is very well put together & there is extras like Russell on "Friday Night with Jonathon Ross" & "Backstage at the Hackney Empire".
A very good watch.
