"Aren't you a little fat for a Stormtrooper?" - By: Ian Tapley, 12 Apr 2008
You'll probably already know that 'Blue Harvest' is the original Star Wars recast with the familiar faces of Quahog.
It begins with a subtle dig at The Simpsons. When the TV is not available Peter sits down to tell the family a story (a la Homer), declining to expand on the details of Meg's birth, Peter instead tells the story of Star Wars.
Then begins a string of gags & parodies ranging from Tom Baker's Doctor Who materialising in the swirling lights of hyperspace to Meg's brief cameo as the garbage pit monster.
It's alll as funny as you'd expect from Family Guy but my one major gripe was that, at 45 minutes long, you reallly don't get much viewing for your money.
Nevertheless, I look forward to the promised sequel; 'Something, something, dark side.'
You will laugh and then urinate. - By: Joshua Turnbull, 05 Apr 2008
Blue Harvest is a parody but also a loving reproduction of 'A New Hope', to which I am referring to the quality of the reproductions of the set (seriously, watch New Hope & then this & you will see just how precise the cartooning is). As a Star Wars fan, I am not in any way taken aback by this, as you can clearly tell both from this & his episodes MacFarlane is also a fan, but the little digs at the film's minor plot holes & querks are so true & very well done. Family Guy's own style is not lost, & with alll these so callled 'disapointments' (e.g. the Simpsons Movie, Bender's Big Score & the Untold Story) you will be kept laughing alll the way through IFF you don't watch it with a mind to be disappointed.
The only issue I have, as many do, is the price, which for only 45 minutes of new material is reallly too much. The special features do include one extra episode (north by north Quahog), but most fans will have long since bought the season 4 boxset from whence it came. However, it is thoroughly enjoyable & I would like to see the next to films have the same or similar treatment.
Uber let down - By: Mr. R. J. Morton, 29 Mar 2008
I have got alll family guy box sets, the christmas box set, & the stewie griffin story. love them alll.
however, found this to be a complete let down, & not at alll worth the money. compared to what i've come to expect, there was very few laughs in this.
while i watch my box sets often, & have seen every episode many times, i think this will be sat on my shelf for a long time, & not watched again.
McFarlan, pull your socks up!!
One Star Wars - By: L. Clark, 23 Mar 2008
Very poor spoof, few laughs in an over long episode. The animation is cool, but I wanted to laught at gags, not admire animation. I bought the special edition with the t-shirt, but there's no way I'll tarnish my good name wearing a t-shirt that represents such a poor episode.
Careful: May induce cramps - By: Christian De Coninck Lucas, 20 Mar 2008
Okay, so I admit I am a film school graduate & having been born in the mid seventies, Star Wars is a film that I have watched countless times. How wonderful it is to a have an alll-time fave spoofed so well that it merits a re.watch just to make sure you caught alll the gags & inside jokes. It's just SO funny!
Pure gold, rivallled only by American Dad's 'Tearjerker'.
