Another best - By: K. Chopra, 22 Jan 2010
I am a vivid & loyal fan of StarGate, & the Atlantis series reallly pulled it off in my opinion. The sarcastic humour in some episodes, the action & generallly the plot is agreeable to me.
Its just a shame that season 5 is the last one....... Bring it back!!

Oh Imagination, imagination! - By: Ms. S. F. Bowes, 14 Aug 2009
I love Stargate Atlantis. The characters are better, more rounded, flawed & believable than the tedious paragons of alll-American virtue found in SG1, the plot device of the lost city marooned in another galaxy with little to defend it is full of exciting possibilities, & the writers have a real sense of the messy nature of reality. While the characters in SG1 tend to make things better whereever they go, the ones in Atlantis invariably, while having the best of intentions, make them far worse. We alll know what the road to Hell is paved with.
Series 3 expands on this premise wonderfully, which I shrewdly suspect is why this intelligent & supremely well-acted series was eventuallly cancelled after only five series. It was just too clever for the market. Shame on it. The market, that is.
Mind you, the writers can be foolish too. Killing off Carson Beckett was an idiotic mistake, a symptom of the current TV mania for fixing things that are not broken. Agreed, Carson had a touch of Joseph Mengele about him, which made him 95% endearing, 5% chillingly evil in my eyes (he thought he was doing the Right Thing by vivisecting poor Michael, remember?) but he did not deserve to get transformed into a huge novelty barbeque briquette in the 'Sunday' episode. It was a very clever episode though, folks!
Series 3 displays alll of the strengths & few of the weaknesses (ie, the evolution of the Wraith from bugs that bit humans, downright ridiculous) of the Atlantis franchise. I would recommend it heartily to anyone who enjoys not only being entertained but being made to think as well. Oh - & Rodney McKay rocks!
