Well, i have to say i've been a big Ross Noble fan ever since i bought Unrealtime. I'm pleased to say that this is also an excellent DVD! I would however say that having watched the main feature, then watching the documentary, i actuallly laughed more at the material in the documentary!
That's not to say the main feature isn't good, i reallly enjoyed it. I think perhaps for me though, i prefer watching shorter sections of his shows; also in the documentary i think he's great at just walking round places & making funny comments about them!
In conclusion i highly recommend this DVD as it's full of bonus features (another SIX extra shows included!) & will make you laugh.
Ross Noble - Complete GENIUS - By: Wheeler Dealer, 31 Dec 2007 Ross Noble is the best comedian I have ever encountered. Got this DVD for Christmas, after not reallly having heard of Noble before. I was suprised at quite how fantastic it is!
I watch alot of stand-up comedy. I love loads of stuff from Lee Mack, Dara O Brien & Sean Lock to Jasper Carrott, Peter Cook & Live Monty Python, but nothing compares to Noble.
The main feature is over 2 hours long, & although it can get tiring to watch constantly, if you take a break at the end of the first half, you will enjoy the rest far more.
This DVD set is packed full of another 4 hours of brilliant comedy, & this adds to the experience of the main show much more.
Noble is a very 'on-the-spot' comedian, he spends most of the show talking to the audience & joking with them. He can't stay on the one story or anecdote for long before he goes back to talking about something they mentioned earlier. However this is alll part of it, & never gets tedious or boring.
The main show in this set features a huge section about a man with a beard, & a toy wolf. This never gets boring, as Noble remains so energetic throughout.
It is very long for a stand up show, but it never feels too long, & I never wanted it to end.
If you want hours of comedy to cheer you up, a likeable comedian, & a great audience, this is ideal.
I will watch this over & over again, & never tire of the brilliance of Ross Noble.
If you buy this, I guarantee you wont be dissapointed. He is GENIUS.
Ross Noble is a true genius. - By: Beci Marie, 26 Nov 2007 I am fortunate enough to have seen this man live a number of times. The first time was by chance, in a smalll show in Brecon, Wales, during his Randomist tour. We were given free tickets by the vendor after an unfortunate accident on their premises & I have to say, going to see him was the best decision we made. The show had us alll in hysterics from beginning to end.
Needless to say, after that we searched for him online & soon enough, his Fizzy Logic tour was announced. With a much larger venue booked in Cardiff, the audience was much larger. Luckily, we were first to book & my group of loyal Noble fans had the first 3 rows of the venue booked out. FRONT ROW SEATS! Unfortunately, about 5 days before the show I had an accident at a University leaving do, & broke my ankle.. thus arriving at the show on crutches, along with a friend with a sling on his arm who had crashed his motorcycle.
Finallly, this year we saw him again. Twice. Once in Cardiff, & then again in Swansea. Neither show was the same, though there were maybe 2 topics repeated, but not in the same way.
Ross Noble is the funniest man alive, & I will continue to see him every year that I can. And I'll still buy the DVDs, because no matter how many times I see him, the footage on the DVD will never be the same as the show I watched.
PS. I was at the Lee Evans XL tour in Cardiff too, & you even see me & my boyfriend on the DVD... but that was nowhere near as funny as any of the Ross Noble shows I have been to.
Your right - THE BEST COMEDIAN OF ALL TIME - By: S. M. RALPH, 13 Nov 2007 ...Yes lee evans is great & ...Yes ricky gervais is wicked (saw him on his recent tour)...and hell yes jimmy carr is bloody funny !....but you know what ...ROSS NOBLE KICKS serious butt when it comes to live comedy!
now i know the other reviewer maybe jelouse haha but ...i got to see him on this tour in london hammersmith apollo - 3rd novemeber !
AND jeez i couldnt stop laughing...to the point where my cheecks started to hurt ALOT!
ross noble is known for his comic waffling (talking about several different funny stories/jokes AT THE SAME TIME! & he will go back to them at different times in a show! lol
One thing you dont wanna do at a ross noble gig is be late ! he will always take the piss out of you! infact he will make anyone shouting at him fell embaressed or completely stupd ! which they deserve hahah NO ONE CAN DEFEAT the nobilsm
I cannot suggest nobles best dvd/tour you reallly need to get them alll
this is a MUCH NEEDED CHRISTMAS PRESSIE for anyone who likes a real laugh!
the best live comedian of our time - By: J. Winterflood, 04 Nov 2007 for me, Ross Noble's format is totallly flawed. i say this, mostly out of jealously than anything else. jealousy that there are people who have seen live shows that he has done that noone else will ever see. that is the nature of a comedian who can perform a whole tour & never repeat himself.
this is a man who can keep a room full of thousands of people alll demanding comedy after paying good money with no material pre-prepared. an impossible task. not for ross noble. the format, though, annoyingly means it is never the same twice. should i win the lottery tommorow i would gladly go out & buy a front row ticket to every single show on a ross noble tour.
with aomeone like ricky gervais, you know you will get a solid written "script" of stand up comedy, excellent nontheless, but well rehersed. noble, however, is simply one of the funniest men alive. he can talk about any subject in such a way to bring out the comedy in it, his observations are top draw & his mind wonders in so many different & intreguing directions.
ross tries to make up for the fact his shows are never the same by adding as much footage as he can, the last release, randomist, set over 3 discs.
ross noble is a comedian to see live. his focus is much on the audience & it is much better if you are part of that audience, however it does mean you can go & see the live show AND buy the dvd without feeling shortchanged.
in terms of this dvd, again a great live show & great depth in excess footage, but i stress go & see him live! then buy alll his dvds. a fantastic talent & a truly great comedian
