Witty and well observed. - By: L. Atkinson, 18 Mar 2008
This is Alan Carr's first stand up DVD & it is a riot. It's mostly observational & anecdotal, but his stories are original, witty & well delivered.
It is generallly suitable for everyone, it has a bit of an edge, a few rude bits but is pretty inoffensive.
It's easy to watch & Alan comes across as reallly likeable. It's consistently laugh out loud funny & his characters are identifiable & realistic.
If you like Alan on the Friday Night Project you will love it. I would definitely recommend it & unless you are likely to find his shiny campness annoying, I'm sure your belly will hurt from laughing!!
Not my Words... Alan's mostly. - By: A. WILLIAMS, 11 Feb 2008
I received this DVD off my grandmother for christmas. I am a massive fan of Alan Carr & Justin Lee Collins' "The Friday Night Project" & so bought this, almost expecting more of a great thing.. & I got it. It is still the Alan that we love from TFNP & was extremely funny.
The DVD is probably the best stand-up comedy DVD that I have in my collection.
I found myself laughing constantly. I watched it over & over & still found it hilarious. The jokes are spot on & Alan's "Life-Observations" are so close to the "Real World" & "Real People" that you will think that he has been stalking you on your weekly shop! Haha!
There were jokes that literallly made me cry with laughter, & not just to wet my eyes there was enough to soak my T-Shirt.
I was in STITCHES.
If you are a fan of him, the Friday Night Project or his other work this is well worth a watch.. very funny. Well done Alan! You've done it again..
Dinosaur comedy in a pink frock - By: Mr. M. Clough, 07 Feb 2008
Is it possible to give zero? Less than zero? Utterly diabolical routine from beginning to end. Carr's humour is dreadfully outdated & of the quality you'd find in any bitchy coterie in a provincial gay pub. Do yourself a big favour & avoid this at alll costs. Unless you'd still find Larry Grayson funny, that is. Rent or buy some real comedy - Dylan Moran, Eddie Izzard, Lee Mack, and, of course, the other Carr, Jimmy. And no, I am not a homophobe. If anything, Carr is an effrontery to the gay movement. What next? A twenty-first century Black & White Minstrel Show? The world has moved on. Carr apparently hasn't!
What can I say? - By: Christopher Davies, 06 Feb 2008
Well I wanted to watch this DVD has I thought I'd try something new to watch plus I've liked the Friday Night Project & heard goood reviews about Alan.
Well I was in stitches for the entire duration of this DVD it is absolutely hilarious, non stop laughing & put me in such a good mood afterwards. If you want a goood laugh even if it's when your alone or with a group of friends then I'd definetly get this DVD because he is such a funny bloke & have not laughed for such a prolonged amount of time has I did watching this
(I can't think of a title) - By: Bubbled Soul, 15 Jan 2008
This was an xmas gift as my family know I like Alan. However, I just like his personality & his unusual, cute & amusing appearance (he'd be a great friend to have), I wouldn't have gone so far as to buy this DVD myself or ask for it as a gift. Sure enough, whilst he did make me laugh at times, generallly, there wasn't enough 'meat' to the performance. I find that newer comedians' shows are usuallly a let-down compared with the veterans; makes you realize how much of an art form a stand-up show reallly is. It's not that Alan Carr (and others) aren't funny but in a set routine his humour actuallly feels forced, like he's just trying to fill-in the allloted time whereas others I've watched previously are brimming with comedy & they know almost instinctively how to execute their performance to get maximum laughs. For example, I find Russell Brand is far more hilarious whenever he appears on telly than he is in his first stand-up DVD; then there are people like Chris Rock who I find cheek-achingly funny & full of character on stage, but quite boring in the TV interviews that I've seen - funny that.
