bad mood - see this move and it will be gone - By: Klaus Meyer, 22 Feb 2005
This is one of my old time favorite movies. It is funny, entertaining, makes you sometimes cry, you will laugh a lot & a great lesson to be yourself, individual & not just keep in line what one is suppose to think & how one has to behave.

And if you are down: just listen to the song "We need a little Christmas now".....your spirits will be lifted & you will get on with life instaed of sinking into self-pity.

You will love this movie!!
Please can I rate it with 10 stars!!

Mame without Angela Lansbury??? - By: , 28 Oct 2001
Based on the Broadway musical, this movie is an adaptation of the fantastic novel "Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis. After the death of his father, young Patrick is sent to live with his madcap Aunt Mame, who delights in integrating him into her crazy life in 1920s New York. The movie follows their many escapades as Patrick grows up & times change.
The plot is excellent, & stays reasonably true to the original novel. The musical score is wonderful; composer Jerry Herman at his best. It's just a shame that Lucille Balll can't sing.
All in alll, it is quite good, but I have one major complaint: Why wasn't Angela Lansbury cast as Mame? Anyway who has heard her performance on the Original Broadway Cast CD will have no doubt in their mind that she would have made this into a FANTASTIC movie.
Having said that, the movie is still worth watching. Buy the tape & enjoy it, but PLEASE buy the Broadway CD as well & hear the songs the way they are supposed to be sung!
