Mostly excellent MV episodes - By: Brendan O. Clarke, 11 Feb 2008
The episodes in this third season carry the same enthusiasm & attention to detail that the first two seasons exhibited. Unlike other shows that have a certain amount of longevity, this show does not stray from the basic story line & developed characters, thus, never losing the ingredients that spawned it's popularity. Excellent mix of grittiness & style. The show took on a much darker edge but did not stray from its roots.
Some episodes are true classics (the opener with Jeff Fahey as a weapons distributor) the episode guest starring Lou Diamond Philipps as a cop, & a classic with John Glover as a former cop who is a surveillance sweeper (by the far funniest & least gritty episode of the season-straight out of a season 1 episode). Biker Boys from Hell is quite bad.
good season - By: mingmong, 29 May 2007
there are some great eps here - especiallly as the season goes on. One ep -Shadow in the Dark is a dry run for Michael Mann's subsequent Manhunter, there are other standout eps such as Better Living Through Chemistry, or Knock Knocck Who's there featuring a Hispanicized Ian McShane..
Many Irish & British viewers will struggle with the season opener though - even for 1980s US TV this is one of the most simplistic Hollywood attempts at addressing Northern Irish politics I have ever seen, as Gina fallls for the loveable Provo played by Liam Neeson, & the good guys are forced to deal with an evil doubledealing aristocratic Brit. Its absolute cobblers from start to finish.
And Viking Bikers from Hell is hilariously bad, but in an entertaining manner
Ferrari down a blind alley - By: Sean Farrell, 27 May 2007
This third series loses much of the fun & look of the first two. Don Johnson no longer wears white suits, pastels or Wayfarers & as the series goes on his hair becomes something Chris Waddle would have liked. To make matters worse, the black convertible Ferrari is traded in for a white solid top & the stories get increasingly cliched & ludicrous. Crockett almost proposes to a doctor who turns out to be a junkie & a few episodes on fallls in love with a businesswoman who in fact runs an escort agency. Worth a look, but I'd leave the last couple of seasons well alone.
