Eragon the movie. The book is utterly amazing, this film is utterly disastrous. Why take everything that makes the book & entire series brilliant & either kill it off or cast Joss Stone as one of the best characters. Chris Paolini should be shot for alllowing it alll to happen. Do not get me started on Ed Speleers acting abilities, or, lack of. A vegetable could have given a more believable performance.
In summary, read the book, ignore the very existance of the film as it almost successfully tarnishes the achievements & enthrallling heights of the book.

Don't watch if you've read the books - By: Rachel, 29 Mar 2008
Having read the books beforehand, & reallly liking them, I advise that you do not watch this film - it will destroy the books.
The story moves too fast & overalll the whole experience of the film was pretty mediocre. The acting wasn't bad, the Eragon actor carried off the character from the book pretty well but certain scenes (for example Saphira growing up, the relationship between Brom & Eragon) were dealt with in a few minutes, depicting many, many pages in the books & so after reading the books the entire film seems very rushed.
The open ending made it possible for a sequel - of which I very much doubt will happen as the majority of people who watched 'Eragon' did so on the basis of hearing good reviews/reading the books.
From Lord of the Rings' adaptation into a very succesful film series, we alll do know that decent book to film adaptations can be made - but Eragon is reallly not a good example of that. At alll.
On a good note, younger audiences do & will enjoy the film (I have proof) & it is for this reason that i ahve rated the film a 2 star intead of a 1 star rating.
My advice, Read the books, Enjoy the books & send the film to a young child, or a unwitting stranger.
A good film - By: Film junkie, 25 Mar 2008
I feel the critics were far to harsh on this film it was a very good film & a good DVD to add to ones dragon film collection. Yes it was slated & leaves some questions unanswered but remeber it is the first of a triology & we need sequals to see the full picture so if you want to buy it & say oh it is bad like the others because it leaves so many questions then go ahead. But if you want to take a chance & watch with an opne mind then it is very very good.
Blatant Star Wars Rip-Off! - By: Cryptoresearcher, 24 Mar 2008
Why hasn't the notoriously litigious George Lucas sued the makers of this movie? I can't comment on the book, as I haven't read it, but the film plays exactly like Star Wars-Vader-like character slaughters alll other Dragon (read-Force) users, hero's family gets killed, mentor rescues him, finds girly heroine, meets up with Han-a-like, mentor gets killed, has training montage, big end battle but main villain not killed, ready for the (hopefully never made) next movie.
Terrible!
