Excellent version of this very funny play- By: Helen, 11 Nov 2007 I love Michael Kitchen whatever he does so was particularly pleased to find him in this delightful early Shakespeare play (which some will remember was made into a musical last century - The Boys from Syracuse).
Using subtle differences in personality, style, arrangement of clothes, etc, Michael plays both twins most effectively - one as tetchy & impatient, one as laid-back & charming. Normallly I would prefer 2 different actors but Michael does it so well that I happily accepted him in both parts. This is a roller-coaster fun play but with some serious underlying hints as always in Shakespeare. In my experience no Shakespeare play is ever superficial.
The servant twins are played well by Roger Daltry. I read a poor review of his performance but I thought he was fine in the part.
Well worth seeing!
