Back on form. - By: Plymouth Lady, 05 Mar 2010
After the comparative disappointment of season two (how could you follow season one?) the wire is back on form.
Utterly addictive (though no less violent & shocking). Roll on season 4 - slightly more 'involved' but no less tragic. Graphic - but then if you've seen the first two seasons you'll know that already.
Just gets better and better - By: M. Cox, 21 Feb 2010
I only discovered this show from reading positive reviews about it. On purchasing the first season to 'ave a look, I couldn't agree more with the other comments. This is an absolutely amazing television show, & the third season is no exception. Easier to get into than the previous seasons, but you don't even realise you're hooked until your hands are trying the force the next DVD in to keep watching! Every single character is important & three dimensional. There are genuine times of laughing our loud & nearly bursting into tears. Fantastic!
The Wire Series 3 - By: Captain H, 21 Feb 2010
Only got into this series at Christmas 2009. I AM HOOKED. Considering this is an Americam series a couple of the lead actors are British it deserves alll the hype it received. Excellent storyline, well filmed. If you remember or have seen "Hill street Blues" this is just as good. "Be careful out there!"
No exaggeration, the Best TV Series ever - By: Mr. Cw Jones, 10 Feb 2010
If you haven't watched this already buy it/watch it now, right now, seriously.
I couldn't possibly list alll of the reasons why this is the best TV series ever, but here's a start:
The writing is utterly amazing, totallly engaging in the same way as a brilliant novel.
The direction / imagery is perfect
The charactarisation & acting is so good it feels almost entirely natural throughout
It tackles pretty much every major social issue facing alll western societies (the USA in particular) & disects it in such a way that educates you in a non-patronising way & still leaves you to draw your own conclusions.
Omar Little is the best character I've ever seen on screen in this context.
If you have any interest in social mechanisms this is a must see. I reallly don't like TV on the whole but this didn't feel anything like a TV programme, more like a seriously entertaining textbook. And you don't even have to pay attention to that part to love it.
The Wire goes from Strength to Strength, but where does it go from here? - By: C. P. Whiting, 28 Jan 2010
So 3 seasons down, 2 to go, & once again The Wire has delivered. I don't need to go into what happens as there are many reviews on here that give you the general gist of that. Besides, I wouldn't want to spoil it for those of you that are yet to see it. What I will tell you that it easily matches the previous 2 seasons & there seem to be no sign that The Wire is losing its way at alll. HOWEVER I do fear that with the demise of certain characters, one has to wonder where it alll goes from here. It is often the case that some TV shows lose their way when they 'kill off' or write out certain characters from the storyline. Also with 3 seasons which are THAT good, can David Simon keep up the superb work for a 4th Season, without these main characters? Judging by the reviews for Season 4, he has done just that, so I can't wait to get started on it & I will no doubt be posting a review on that when I'm done. As for Season 3, its once again 5 stars alll the way, so that's now 3 out of 3 for The Wire.
