Classic - By: Vicky Welsby, 27 Jul 2008
As one of the other reviewers has already said, only 2 series & definitely better for it. That's part of what makes this a classic comedy. It's the type of series you can watch over & over, know what lines are coming & be laughing at them before you get to them. The thought of "Keiths antie Dot from Cockermouth ate a raffia drinks coster" still has me howling out loud even after the several hundredth time I've heard it. There are so many classic moments in this series, it's simply impossible to name anywhere near alll of them. It's absolutely superb and, let's face it, with the geniuses that are Victoria Wood & Julie Walters at the helm, how could this be anything less than sheer brilliance?
Because I can't give it six - By: Jane Godfrey, 21 Jul 2008
dinnerladies is the best comedy show ever. I was introduced to this by a freind, & after seeing just one episode, I was hooked. The interaction between the characters is great & the one liners are pure gold. familier faces include Celia Imrie, Duncan Preston & Anne Reid. People may also recognise Mavis from Corrie AKA Thelma Barlow. Shame on you, Victoria for making just 2 series. Al least bring it back for a one hour special!
whiff-a-rama - By: scousebird, 14 Jun 2008
I loved this series when it was on telly but had forgotten how funny it reallly was & how great the cast are[many the usual faces you see in Victoria Wood shows such as Celia Imrie,Duncan Preston & Julie Walters].Dolly[mavis from corrie] cracks me up the most with her cutting remarks to poor Jean about her hips & "how this wouldn't have happened at the Cafe Bon Bon".
Victoria Wood is a genius casting herself as Bren who for alll intents & purposes is the straight character, alllowing the others to crack the one liners.
The simmering love story between Bren & Tony makes you just want to bang their heads together but its alll worth the agony of"will they won't they " by the end of the second series
Julie Walters is hilarious as Brens mum Pertulia Gordino,as is Celia Imrie as Phillipa & Maxine Peak as Twink to name but a few.
I bet they had a great laugh when they were making this.Money well spent buying this DVD.

a true classic comedy series!!! - By: Mr. Nathan Armstrong, 14 Mar 2008
i orginalllly had this on vhs video & even though i must have watched it 20 times from start to finish it still makes me howl with laughter

be it the on/off romance between bren(victoria wood) & tony...the midlife crises of dolly & jean..the couldnt give a care attitude of twinkle...or the outrageous, wind breaking, friend to stars, mother from hell played by julia walters

the cast it amazing....and many are regulars on tv now from shameless to coronation street...plus guest appearances by thora hird, eric sykes, dora bryan..and even jimmy krankie!

comedy moments such as the frozen sperm in the freezer...norman the breadmans accident on a diving board in guernsey...

everytime you watch you laugh at the jokes you know & yet still have new ones you haven't noticed before..i promise!

brilliant - By: C. Plant, 09 Oct 2007
I first saw this programme on UK Gold on sky & loved it so much I decided to buy the box set. It's brilliant & alll the characters are superb & work well together. I can watch the episodes over & over again & not get bored.

I think the amount of episodes is not enough & it could have gone on for longer without still being boring. I would love a one off show say as a christmas special where they alll have a reunion in the old canteen building & a what happend next in alll the characters lives. Did tony & Bren go on ok in Scotland?, Did Jean & Stan get married? And how was Dolly's move upmarket?

I would definately recommend this commedy to anyone.
