Reet Grand Series The Missing Episodes Are Available !!! - By: S. T. Thurlow, 08 Aug 2008
Think this has been covered in another review, but between series 3 & series 4 there are two christmas specials available on import from the netherlands. The 1983 special has everybody coming back together at skeldale after the war. The 1985 special Tristan is working for the ministry of agricultre, Seigfried has moved out but still works with James. I have just bought them through amazon & they work fine, you just have to turn the dutch subtitles off, picture quality is great i think it was shot on film. Two weeks ago i was staying in the area where alll creatures was filmed, you may know Skeldale & Darrowby was shot in Askrigg, the prisoner of war camp from the 1985 special was shot at Grinton Lodge which is now a youth hostel, on the road to Leyburn. Quality acting, gentle storytelling, enjoy.
Something is missing. - By: Liakos, 01 Apr 2008
I am probably one of the most "peculiar" fans of this tv series. It brought back fond memories from the years I lived in England as a young student. Series 1 to 3 were excellent & I watched alll episodes with my wife who got stuck as well.
Series 4 which I presume was shown on English tv a few years after series 3 & which I had never seen before as by then I had returned home, has made both of us feel that there is something missing. We both tried to help each other understand the changes or guess what was going on.

I very much agree with the previous comments.
Disappointed? Just a bit! - By: Mrs. R. Birley, 11 Mar 2008
We have watched Series 1 - 3 which we greatly enjoyed & looked forward to. Never watching more than one episode a night (you know what they say about too much of a good thing....)
Watching the first episode in series 4 was like waking after a reallly long sleep a bit like Sleeping Beauty! We had been very careful to watch each episode in sequence, & at first, thought had got it wrong! (till I read the other reviews on the same subject). How could the powers that be, miss out the other episodes? Apart from that, the filming is so different it does not have the same laid back ambience & comfortable feel of the the previous episodes. We will keep watching, hoping it will improve but not with the same anticipation!
The Missing Stories reply - By: N. P. Butler, 27 Feb 2008
This is more about the missing stories between series 3 & 4.
3 Christmas specials were made after series 3 I think, where James returns.
They are only available as region 1 dvd's but are still available. I saw them on UK tv in 2006 at Christmas & the picture quality was awful. I emailed the distributers about them being released in the uk, but I've had no reply.
Hope this helps anyway.

I thought after Series 3 the show wasn't as gripping, but I still enjoyed it. Hope it returns someday, I hear they are planning it!
Missing episodes? - By: C. M. Rushforth, 21 Feb 2008
I agree with the previous reviewer about the discontinuity -and I am mystified since both myself & my husband have clear memories from when we saw this on TV of an episode when James arrives back in Skeldale after he has been away in the war. Can anyone shed light on this?
