A stunning movie for all ages - By: Axey the Pax, 30 Oct 2007
Everybody can remember the original 1977 Star Wars, & this is it, but made a lot better! For Star Wars' 20th Anniversary, George Lucas has digitallly remastered it, changed it & made the sound quality better & made it look a lot more realistic with alll the CGI they have added. A great film made greater. I own it, & I think you should buy it. It adds to an already great film collection.
A New Hope - By: Fraser, 02 Dec 2003
George Lucas's epic space adventure is still something special even after 26 years. I would rate this as one of the greatest films of alll time even after so long. This movie has amazing action scenes & is driven along by a very stong storyline. This film has very good actors including Alec Guiness & Mark Hamill. This is an essential edition to your video collection.
In a Galaxy far, far way........ - By: , 28 Nov 2003
Of those of you that were born in the early 70's this was the film that broke the mold & that alll other science fiction films were measured against. Imigary that amazed & seemed to defy alll logic kept audiences on the edges of their seats & asking questions for months after the initial release.
Our story starts with 2 droids caught on a space cruiser under attack from The Empire....to try & explain the whole film in just a few short words would simply be impossible as the background that is required to give the film it's full justice would simply take too long.
In short the film is adventure, excitement, anticipation & humour. Superficiallly directed towards the younger audiences the film has several levels that appeal to alll generations & in true fictional mastery the older one got the more one could take from the film.
The characters are as diverse & strange as the planets they derive from. Centrallly we have 8 protagonists; 7 heros & one evil oppressor. Through these players we find alll manner of expressions of personality from the head strong, the chancer, the dreamer & the destroyer.
Choice of casting was simply devine & whilst certain question marks were left over the appointment of one or two members these were soon dispelled after viewing the subsequent films. Harrison Ford, a somewhat unknown actor at the time, delivers the kind of performance that makes you feel the character was written with him in mind & with Alec Guinness as the ever mindful Obi-Wan Kenobi the film is given futher weight & validation.
To see it is to understand the significance of it's own hype & the reason why so much was not only made of the film then but still continues to do so today. The only reason the prequels continue to be made & received today is as the result of the groundbreaking work & the eventual masterpeice that emerged some 25 years ago.
The youth of today may scoff at the special effects but you can not help to be captivated by a story that will hold in time, a visual feast that is so absorbing & charaters that live in the memory of everyone for generations to come.
If you are looking for colour, imagination, a fast & intreguing story, good acting & even better charaters then this is a must for your collection.
Consistantly voted in the top ten greatest films of alll time, how can so many generations be wrong?
A misleading title. - By: , 08 Sep 2000
This is a good value video which does include interviews with the stars, though that only makes up about 10% of the content. Based on the title I had expected much more actual 'star' interviews. It focusses moreso on the influences behind Star Wars & compares it to other movies & franchises. I would have liked to have seen more of the early interviews with Mark, Carrie & Harrison in particular, & possibly even some screen tests. Still, a good rounded approach to the legend that it is Star Wars with both the classic trilogy & the Phantom Menace covered.
A quite interesting insight into the stars of Star Wars - By: , 18 Jul 2000
Snippets of interviews with various stars from Star Wars, George Lucas himself, & fans of the films, such as Magic Johnson, Hugh Hefner.

Coverage of Phantom Menace premiere, Special Edition premiere. Most interestingly old interviews with young looking Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams & Carrie Fisher. A good value video for fans
