Still a classic - By: Mr. J. C. Hill, 26 Feb 2010
Having heard a few rumours about the US Import version (different start, missing scenes etc) I decided to take the chance & buy it anyway (I'm tired of waiting for an official PAL release).

I can honestly say that there's no difference, anywhere in the film, between the US import & the original VHS PAL version & it's region free.

I'm not going to review the film...it's a classic...and if you haven't seen it already then shame on you!
The Terminator is a classic - By: S. Storey, 21 Feb 2010
I sat & watched 'The Terminator' last night for the first time in quite a while & thought to myself this is reallly an outstanding film. I am also a fan of 'T2' & 'Salvation' (I have tried to wipe 'Terminator 3' from my mind as it was so bad) but nothing compares to the original for a number of factors. First of alll 'The Terminator' was a very original film, secondly it has a lot of atmosphere unlike its sequels. For an early '80's film the special effects r very good & also very affective considering the limitations due to technology & budget. Thirdly, & the most important to me, this movie is very dark both in theme & a lot of night time photography. In my opinion this is James Camerons masterpiece.
stan winston +true director - By: S. C. Ramsbottom, 01 Feb 2010
A triumph of the film industry. The bonus features give a real insight into the making of the film - a film that has always intrigued me. I learned some of it was a lot more budget than I ever thought, & it makes it the finer for that. Picture aspect fills our whole 16:9 screen making this feel close to viewing in the cinema. James Cameron comes across as intense as I thought he was (I formed this view from watching the Aliens special edition disc). Very primal in its presentation of mechanical turmoil, & broken people.

This was Cameron's first film & it is somewhat crude but the positive spin-off is that it established boundaries in expert directorship (something that Cameron has an unusual talent for). I find myself switching off & being drawn into the expertly disseminated story. The selection of actors, choice of filming locations, & execution of action cohere very effectively. Further, there is the sense that the story continues after the film has finished.
great! - By: M. Goecke, 01 Feb 2010
This is maybe the best qualitiy of the Terminator movie you can get on DVD! I don't need to write about the movie itself, because it became a part of our collective mind in the last decades, but the DVD is great. I waited a long time for the "right" DVD of T1 & here it is.
