A Brilliant Film - By: Scott Ainscough-jervis, 23 Aug 2008
This is truly a good film & one of the few films that has a descent sequel. James Cameron is without doubt a master of this franchise but is a ashame that he did not direct terminator 3. The special effects in this film broke new boundries when released with the appearance of the T-1000 walking through a gate & fire.
Included are deleted scenes which I believe could have been added to make this film even better. It has an alternate ending which would have stopped the franchise their & then so I am glad that they did not use it.
I heavily recommend that this film be in any collection.
Very good movie, a classic in the genre, *Spoilers* - By: Mr. Martin K. Allan, 22 Aug 2008
Well, let me start by saying that when this came out in 1991 it blew me away. A worthy sequel to 1984's excellent 'The Terminator'. In many respects the movie still stands up to todays standards, & in some respects is still ahead of the pack. The CGI used was truly revolutionary back then, & it was used properly. By this I mean it was used to move the story along, had relevance to the plot & characters, & was not overblown like so many of todays movies which feature relentless CGI & have a cartoony feel. After watching it again recently I only noticed a couple of niggles that mar the movie (only slightly). Edward Furlong has some truly awful lines to deliver (the whiny 'Time out! Stop the Bike!') & phrases such as 'This is deep'. The Arnie 'thumbs up' in the molten steel at the end is also decidedly cringe-worthy, & things would have been so much better without it. Miles Dyson's death scene is also on the bizarre side, & is not realistic, although I did feel sorry for him as he breathed his last breath. These niggle aside, the action sequences are well set up & directed superbly, alllowing the viewer to enjoy every pulse pounding second. The story is good & the actors performances are generallly on par, moving the events along with a nice flow.
A very good movie that is recommended to alll.
Perfect sequel - By: Chris Wood, 09 Aug 2008
This is how to make a follow up. T2 pushes the envelope at every level & thrills alll over the place. The sfx are incredible - worth every penny of the $100m+ budget.
A brilliant action movie. Everyone should own it.
in many ways THE DEFINATIVE SEQUEL and in soe ways SUPERIOR TO THE FIRST! - By: S. J. Pinder, 22 Jul 2008
stunning,just plain stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
James Cameron did it with ALIENS(also recommended)and now he has done it with his own successful franchise....hes only gone & made a movie sequel that is in many ways matched(if not)improved on the previous film(which nowadays is impossible).
there are amazing stunts & dialogue...its very fast paced & astounding.
everyone must see this film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terminator 2 - No 12 - All Time List 2008 - By: L. Ecclestone, 14 May 2008
An alll time favourite - one of the first movies I can remember watching & some fifteen years later I still love it, its special effects stand up even today.
The Terminator (Arnie) arrives back on Earth 15 years after the first mission with a different aim than in the original Terminator - this time he is to protect John Connor & his Mother, Sarah Connor, rather than tracking Sarah to kill an unborn John as in T1 - The shape shifting T1000 this time is the pursuer & the next two hours is spent as a full on action packed adrenaline rush which has to be one of the best action movies ever, & certainly the best of the 90's. Many a memorable scenes, the special effects are incredible, beyond belief considering the age of the movie combining first rate stunts, explosive battles & enough fun to shake a stick at.
Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor does a fantastic job in a highly impressive performance, a young Edward Furlong is equallly impressive as John & of course, let's not forget Arnold - first rate acting, direction & script adds up to a first rate movie.
T2 always drives forward to a thrilling conclusion (well until T3 came about!) & any lover of action movies - any movie for that matter - has to watch this film, probably after watching the equallly fantastic (but with a smalller budget) Terminator. T2 sweeps you up & pulls you into what's happening. It has humour to ease the tension, classic Arnie one-liners, great cinematography, top notch action sequences & scenes that will stay with you long after watching. If you haven't seen this, you truly should. It is unmissable.
The best sequel ever? T2 certainly has a shout at that accolade.
