Princess of Contradictions - a lightweight movie, but a great performance by Lucy Cohu - By: Klaus Meyer, 22 May 2008
The Queen's Sister is a 2005 semi-fictional drama about Princess Margaret first aired on Channel 4. The story follows Margaret from 1952, when her father King George VI dies, to the mid-1970's & takes a lusty three-decade journey through the life of England's original paparazzi-plagued princess. The Queen's Sister begins with the disclaimer that some of the following is based on fact. And some isn't. Excatly, one might like to add.

Since Princess Margaret's death a proper biography on this princess of contradictions needs to be written, this movie defenitely is not the last word on the Princess either. It only shows the falll of the famed beauty to an alcoholic & depressive woman who fades from the limelight & into unhappiness. So who love to see and/or read about royalty only in terms of an idelic protrail will be disappointed as this is not just about diamands & tiaras but as well about drug & alcohol abuse. For those you take anyway a more realistic approach the movie seems to be to unbalanced. So, this is rather disappointing.

However, it is still worthwhile watching: this is due to actress Lucy Cohu as Princess Margaret. She does deliver a regal, rollicking performance in the title role. Cohu's performance just makes it alll worth watching.

However, it would be too much of a stretch to calll this movie great.
