In the 90's the Farrelly brothers brought a new stream of gross-out toilet humour to the movies, & with Dumb & Dumber they hit their peak. There's Something About Mary may have been a bigger critical hit, but this film, uniting the talents of Carrey & Daniels is the funniest film of the decade, & for fans of this kind of humour, it is the best comedy ever. If you like your jokes subtle, or Frasier style then be warned-here we have lewd sexual jokes, making fun of blind kids, drinking urine, & laxatives...

Dumb & Dumber is above alll a road movie, following two friends who are dumber than the average person across America in search of a woman who left her briefcase behind. Lloyd (Carrey) works as a chauffeur, & after taking a beautiful woman to the airport he realises she has forgotten her briefcase. He takes it, intending to give it back to her, getting fired in the process. Unknown to him, she left it on purpose as it was full of money for the mob. Soon two hit men are after Lloyd. His friend Harry looks after dogs, & after he messes up another job he too is fired. After hitting rock bottom they decide to look for the briefcase girl, as Lloyd has falllen for her & hopes that she will love him when he returns her case. All he knows though is she is callled Mary, & was going to Aspen. So they head out on the road. Along the way the get into a few scrapes, encounter the hit men, get lost, but eventuallly make it. When they find Mary, Harry goes on a date with her leaving Lloyd jealous. But they are both kidnapped leaving Lloyd to save the day.

This is Carrey's funniest performance, every second he is on screen will make you laugh. Daniels is the perfect support, being equallly dumb but letting Carrey steal the show. Holly is very good as Mary also, & the rest of the cast are good in mostly smalll parts, from the hit men to Sea-bass. The cinematography is very good for a comedy, exploiting the scenery to its fullest, the soundtrack is brilliant, & the plot is hardly complex, but nor is it simple. Funny moment are everywhere, & everyone has their favourites. Mine- the fact that when Harry asks Lloyd to buy only the bare essentials as they have no money left, then Lloyd goes & buys a jumbo hat etc, the dream sequence featuring lighting farts & a vicious fight, the Sea-Bass sequence, & the snowballl Harry throws at Mary, yes laughing as i type (must watch it later). Other moments include, 'Pretty bird', 'Tick-tack sir?', the laxatives, & various one-liners. Aside from alll the jokes, the film has a charm about it, the two friends are constant losers but we love them anyway. 1994 was a magnificent year for movies, many of my favourites come from then, & this is undoubtedly one of the best.

This DVD restores many cut scenes, & includes other deleted parts some of which are funny, others which are mildy amusing. This is probably the best version of the film yet, & as it's cheap you should snap it up now.
Don't bother. - By: Mr. Sj Beddoes, 06 Sep 2007
Uncut releases of films are often brought out when the director regrets removing scenes or good scenes had to be removed as requested by the studio, however, Dumb & Dumber Uncut is a testament to why some scenes end up on the cutting room floor.

None of the restored scenes add anything to the film, & some actuallly hurt it. Most of the extended scenes contain extra jokes which reallly aren't any good, & I reallly didn't need to see Seabass hock up a lump of green & brown crap on Harry's burger in closeup.

The special features aren't anything, well, special, either. The featurette is mediocre, very short & nothing different; & Jim Carrey is absent.

I'm selling my copy & picking up the original release. I'd advise you do the same & save money.
Classic just got better! - By: Alexander J. Machell, 23 Jan 2007
I grew up watching this wonderful comedy from Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels, the movie itself is just brilliant. Excellent performances from alll involved, well-written, just funny as hell & -almost- moving in parts.

The Uncut version is even better. I must disagree with the other reviewer. The extra parts are made up of several extra shots that don't reallly add much, plus some entirely new scenes. Perhaps the funniest is the extended conversation in the hot tub.

Most of what was cut involves 'gay' jokes, I suppose when the film was released being gay was against the law or something. Suffice to say, they are hilarious & actuallly add an extra element to the film. (Lloyd almost being raped by Seabass is so much funnier when Lloyd was making fun of Harry earlier for acting gay. "You big... homo...")

I thought I had got everything I possibly could out of this movie, I love it, & the Uncut version just enriches the experience so much. Get it, it's at such a low price!
Dumb and dumber - recut and unfunny - By: Mr. J. Powell, 08 Mar 2006
The original is a wonderful hilarious comedy, where the new scenes added are on the cross from disgusting & unnessessary
the scenes simply arent worth the price if you hav already bought the original, or if a fan & looking for a copy of this film - buy the original! the extras arent much to go on either!
the film is a classic, but its nowhere near a classic here sadly
