Good, but too long - By: E. J. Berge, 08 Jul 2008
I originallly got this dvd in an attempt to help my back problems.. Overalll I see no improvement to my back, if anything it's worse, but that's probably just me & my weird & annoying back.
Otherwise, this dvd's pretty good. I especiallly feel the difference in my stomach. The stomach section is just the right length & gives me a decent work out. The arms section is a little short & dissappointing.
My main quibble with this dvd is the time. The 50 minute work out it promises is actuallly more like an hour, & that doesn't include the warm up or the warm down, which add an extra 15 minutes or so. Generallly I find that I get bored before the end of the programme. As the full programme is meant to be done 3 times a week, I would only recommend this to people with time & patience
I agree, don't buy it - By: KT Espana, 05 Jul 2008
Contrary to other reviews, I find the music dreary & depressing, not the least bit inspiring or uplifting. Also, the proper way of pilates breathing is not mentioned AT ALL. To get the best from exercising, this is vital. The exercises do not flow. You are still on the floor & Darcey is already standing up doing the next exercise. Very poor & a big disappointment.
Don't Buy it! - By: E. Kolchina, 02 Jul 2008
This is an incredibly boring DVD! Whether you are advanced at pilates or a weekend warrior - this DVD will be sure to kill your mood.
Darcey - you're a star! - By: Elouise Bradley, 14 Jun 2008
I loved this DVD... as someone who is very picky about the quality of 'workout' DVDs I was extremely impressed with this one. Darcey Bussell just exudes tranquility & even if one didn't do any of the exercises I would be surprised if you weren't completely calm at the end. I agree that it's probably best if you do have some experience of Pilates just so that you have some idea of how to move your body & when the positions are 'right'. Without a professional correcting you it can be easy to continue doing it wrong. But having said that it, if you watch Darcey & are careful to copy her movements (ie how she aligns her body) then this DVD is perfect & highly recommended. Even though Darcey Bussell is so very toned it's impossible not to be inspired by her!
You need to have proper lessons first - By: Caroline, 05 Jun 2008
I have been doing Pilates for about 2 years & reallly wanted to top up my weekly sessions from home. Bought this DVD from Amazon & tried it for the first time yesterday morning. I enjoyed it & think that Darcy does cover most of the typical exercises. However, this DVD is not suitable for beginners, you do need to attend a few classes first to find out the correct positions otherwise you could hurt yourself. I have not bought an exercise DVD before, so do not know what style they usuallly are, but I was very surprised by how home made this one was. The scenes when Darcy is warming up on the beach look like a home video, the camera was swinging around alll over the place! Very off putting! This DVD does appear to have been made on a budget, but the content is very good.
