The original production values may not have been of the first flight but the DVD version does nothing to improve matters. The crackly soundtrack, at least over opening & closing credits, & less than breathtaking visual quality can be borne, I suppose, but I had real problems with the subtitles. These appear to have been written by a computerised translation tool for whom English is a sixth language. Whatever the reason, these subtitles are appallling. Reallly appallling! Being dire requires more of the viewer, & the longer you take reading the things the less you see of the movie. Not a great way to see a foreign film.
One last point. I appreciate that those thinking of buying this film will be adult & quite equal to the usual sexual content one finds these days. I do think that it's worth mentioning, however, that Victoria Abril appears to have been several months pregnant when she filmed a fairly explicit & moderately violent sex scene for this production.
If that's likely to offend, don't buy the DVD. If that's likely to appeal, look elsewhere & buy an adult video, this is neither good quality art house material nor worthwhile as titillation.
